Once mixed peracetic is effective for up to an hour or so after that you need to really mix some more.

I love peracetic, but won't be using any more at home in future once this batch is gone. It'll either be Videne or hypochlorous acid.

Re: Yeast Culturing

some of what we do in the lab doesn't transfer well into the domestic setting to well. Tell me about it :( I know someone (Gillian Grafton actually) who has great success with freezing yeast under glycerol, but as you say, using very small amounts of yeast in 2ml disposable centrifuge tubes, and cr...

Re: Yeast Culturing

Does anyone do this with any success? Depends on what you mean by success? I go from single cell to 300ml of slurry in 5 Days, and my last batch fermented from 1.040 to 1.008 in three days. What sort of things will I need to take into consideration? You need to consider the amount of space required...

I use an air pump with a sterile filter to drive an inline stainless stone (both filter and airstone are autoclaved before use in a pressure cooker) Hi Steve, I guess you get the filters from work. The autoclaveable HEPA ones are extortionate here. They were pretty costly when I got a load from St ...

Reinforced Poly Tubing

Hi All, Newbie (To JHBF that is) Here, After a semi major rebuild of the brewery I am finding that I need some 1/2" (ID) poly hose. (To join my adjustable height manifolds to the copper pipework from the pumps) It will be pumping Hot wort from the Mash Tun for recirculation, and also Boiling wort in...
