nothing, but you aint shoving 240V up something thats only designed for 5V,the only risk is an element or motor being on when it shouldn't.For 2x elements 2x pumps at 240v what's to stop and accidental plug in on the wrong socket.

Re: Some Brew Panel questions
I intend to use powercon connectors for all my leads in and out of panel as that seems to be the norm Only use powercons for 240v wiring, dont use them for anything else, otherwise theres a big risk of getting things mixed up and 240v appearing were it shouldn't.For probes xlr's are good option,or if...

Re: Some Brew Panel questions
Looking at the image of the contactor I assume please correct me if I'm wrong A1 live in and a2 neutral back to terminal bus which completes the circuit on start up for example turn of the key allows power into the panel which then latches the contactor on 1&2 or 3&4 depending on which way it is wi...

Re: Some Brew Panel questions
As the contacts of either close they will arc Arcing will also happen when the contacts open, and on certain types of load can be more impresive than the switch on arc. Another differences between the 2 is a contactor often has extra auxillary, lower rated contacts for control circuitry and as i ment...

Re: Some Brew Panel questions
They don't spark and flash like ordinary relays. They are popular in our crowded island because they don't cause the radio interference and upset the neighbours. Dont they? Youve obviously not played with industrial electrickery. The term relay and contactor is pretty interchangeable, you can get a 5...

Re: Where to get 250V/15A IEC-C15
makes perfect sense considering no voltage is mentioned,an element rated at 3kw on 250v is only 2.4kw at around 225volts.An element has a rating. 2.4kw to 3kw makes no sense.

Re: Kettle style lead getting very hot on the plug terminals
The contact resistance is the resistance between the pins of the plug and the contacts of the socket, the worse/higher the contact resistance the greater the heat produced .

Re: Kettle style lead getting very hot on the plug terminals
Any plug and socket will get warm, theirs a resistance between contacts, all be it very small, and a current, with a 0.1 ohm contact resistance and a 13A current you've got 17 watts of heat being produced. The maximum allowable temperature for a uk socket according to the BS standards is 52C so dont wor...

If your a cheap skate you could knock up the same with a 2 x 16 lcd display and an arduino clone for about a 1/4 of the price of the development board

sounds like the paul Mcartney defence,"i didnt know what the seeds were so i planted then and they came up illegal"I wouldn't know, but I once got a small 'plantation' growing down the bottom of the garden after dumping old bird seed.

Re: Growing hops from seed
Those distant cousins don't necessarily require a cold period to mimic winter like many seeds of temperate flowering plants do Actually they seem to work better with a cold spell before germination, not sure if its 100% necessary, but the theory is your tricking the seeds into thinking its winter so ...

Re: Safety advice for fermentation fridge
if youve only placed them side by side and relying on the heatshrink to keep them in contact then its not ideal, why not cut off the crimps and use bit of terminal block,if you need to restore the fridge replacment crimps are cheap
