Re: First attempts..

skilled brewers with a refined procedure can often brew a beer thats ready to drink in only a few weeks and can get away with the dry hop load that some hop bombs require. most of us however brew beers that can benefit from a longer period in the bottle or keg to mature, I dare say your beers if gi...

First attempts..

Well.... first 3 Grainfather brews are under the belt and I can safely say I have learnt a lot.. I cant say I have brewed a good beer yet but.... I have learnt a lot! Beer 1 - went all out (mistake... running before walking!) and went for a neipa. Took forever to figure out equipment, got shouted at...

So, do you reckon I should be patient and wait till I have sparged all water through the grain or , start boil and continue to sparge?

Re: GF - Starting boil as I sparge?

Yep, using connect.

I noticed it keeps the wort at 98 whilst I sparge.
Can I in that case keep sparging but tell the connect I have added all my sparge and then the boil cycle will start whilst I am still sparging therefore saving me some time?

Question... can I start the boil timer immediately? or do I have to wait till all the sparge water has gone through the grain? I only ask as it takes an age to sparge (roughly 20 mi...

Re: Grainfather app question

yep. the app automatically reconnects when I get back in range and 'catches up' , no need to restart anything . but still, a right royal PIA! yep a wifi version would be so much better. you would think it would be quite a simple thing for the app to work out.. something along the lines of.. I starte...
