Re: Old hooky

Dave's right about the enzymatic malt and no black. I posted the grain bill list from the Hook Norton Brewery tour I went on last year HERE Well that's very interesting Jim. No flaked maize or even crystal, and if HN don't know, who the f**k does? BTW I'm glad to hear that someone else's wife hates...

wilfh wrote:How about substituting the sugar and maize for pale and crystal to get back to the target og. Say 50:50 of the extra malt.

Old hooky

I have been brewing the old hooky recipe from GWs book for a while now and all though the book says its in the style of the beer it doesn't quite taste as the real beer does, i seem to get quite a big crystal malt hit from old hooky but not from GWs version. my question is how much would you increas...

Re: Kegs arrived, 30l

Just so i have got this correct you have to unscrew the spear to get it out and there is no clip to remove or put back on like a normal sanke keg
if this is so i would be very interested in the 20 liter versions of these .

Re: slow lager ferment. is this normal?

I love brewing lager. Was never really a lager drinker until I started brewing my own; always favoured ales. It is a long drawn out process but so worth it IMHO. I usually use WLP 800 liquid yeast stepped up several time to get a gallon starter for a 10 gallon batch of pilsner style lager. I fermen...

Re: Taste my beer

It's not really just a slight off flavour though. It's more like someone has put AIDs in your mouth.
bloody hell that is bad are you sure your starting with water out of the tap and not battery acid lol
