Re: I'm Thinking of doing a kit!!!!!!!!!!
Finally I have got round to buying a kit. It was partly decided by what what in stock (Leyland Homebrew) It was a toss up between St Peters and Brupaks. There were quite a few new kits in stock which looked interesting but needed additional spray malt etc. To keep it as simple as possible, I went fo...

Re: Have I ruined this thru stupidity?
Should I have reprimed when I bottled the next day, it would have only been fermenting for a day so I'm hoping it should still be alright in the bottle. Phil After a day it will have used some of the sugar and produced CO2 which will have vented away. It may not be the same level of carbonation you...

Re: Have I ruined this thru stupidity?
If you were troubled by your "error"all you needed to do was let the priming sugar ferment out for about 4 days then rack to a fresh bucket and start again. I usually bottle before fermentation is complete, or if I let it ferment out I often do what you have done as an "error". I just stir the sugar...

Re: Wheat Beer fermenting slowly
Thanks for the suggestion lars, Now that you mention it substituted 500g dextrose for 500g light spray malt. Was told when I bought the kit this would only affect the flavour and not the fermentation? Have turned the belt off and will have to wait patiently I suppose! On the positive I tasted a sam...

Different breweries and different customers will specify either way. I'm not sure which I have salvaged from, but all have workedgreenxpaddy wrote:Are they not fined those barrels?

Re: Working in a real ale pub...yeast out of barrell.
It will usually be fine be fine. A sample from a new barrel would be better. What you need to be sure of is that anything you get it from barrel to container must be sanitised to the highest standard. I have done it a few times, but I wouldn't trust anyone to tip it from the barrel if I gave them a ...

Re: Graham Wheeler Recipe - When to Add Sugar?
Logic suggests that as long as it is dissolved in the boil it should be fine...............it works for kit brewers with less fuss!

Harry would be really miffed if I left his dinner festering in the mash tun. It's usually still warm when I serve it to him
