Brewing Deya's 'Hokum Stomp Porter' Recipe.
Hey brewers, I was doing a Maltmiller order recently and was just about to check out my order then noticed this. Looks like a cracking recipe. Check out the description: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/deya-hokum-stomp-oatmeal-porter/ Went for it. First time brewing a recipe kit and I think ...

Re: Salted Chocolate Cinder Toffee Imperial Stout
Silly me I thought this is a beer forum ! Good job that wine producers are not going the same way. Still the brewer has the obligatory long hair and beard plus loud tee shirt. All of this with the ambition to produce something alcoholic that bears no resemblance to beer as we know it. It seems to m...

Check out 3 mins 15 secs in this vid. I think I'm taking it pretty easy in comparison!

Re: Salted Chocolate Cinder Toffee Imperial Stout
Roasted 250g of the cinder toffee in the oven for around 15 mins at 170c. Really browned up and the smell was divine. Into the beer they went.

Re: Salted Chocolate Cinder Toffee Imperial Stout
Yep. It's an expensive one! I've only had a few. I tend to spend a good 3 hrs sipping at it so don't really mind the price that much. Plus, the amount I've saved on brewing my own over the years is in the thousands. I'm always quids in regardless! I'll be adding lactose too. Not sure how much yet. F...

Salted Chocolate Cinder Toffee Imperial Stout
That title got your attention didn't it? I'm referring to this beer: https://shop.hoppily.co.uk/products/salted-chocolate-bigger-cinder-toffee-stout Have you tried it? It's a chocolate bar in a glass. Not everyone's thing, granted. I love it and am trying to replicate it. I currently have an 11.3% s...

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
The plan is to have a ply hood above the kettle. Not going to go the lid route.

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
Just a thought, don't put two fans inline. It does not work like that. I was thinking 2 fans on 2 separate lines. That should be OK? Just worried one inline won't be strong enough. Maybe I'm wrong though. Would this work on its own do you reckon? https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/ADAV150T.html?...

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
You, sir, are a kind soul! Thank you for the offer. I've decided to go for the hood option, though. All makes sense what you say with regards to needing a bigger fan. That's fine. My biggest expense worry was fitting one of those big jumbo fans. I only need a 6 inch hole max for the inline fan. I mi...

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
Mashbag, are all inline fans OK with steam or do I need to shop for a specific type? So much out there.

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
I like what Youtuber Martin / Homebrew Challenge has done. Inline fan and a striped out hood. Check out his vid from around 8 mins. Tidy!

Perhaps I could make a decent size hood with ply and even have 2 inline fans running...

Lovely looking job! I like the price factor, too.
Thanks for taking the trouble to post. Really appreciate it!
My kettle is 38cm.

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
I tried a hood briefly - too much condensation dripping in the brewshed. Tried other approaches then finally settled on old PC fans. I brew in a wooden shed, the cladding is shiplap so I positioned the boiler where i would use it, then levered off the next plank up from the top of the boiler. I cut...
