Re: Corny keg newbie question.
Use this or https://www.brewersfriend.com/keg-carbonation-calculator/ similar to work out what pressure you want for the level of carbonation and beer temp. pressure the corny to this level. If you don't want to keep it connected just keep topping it up to that level a few times a day until it stays...

Re: Anyone backing this?
If you want to know how much CO2 is lost then measuring the weight of the bucket on quality scales will be extremely accurate. Fermentation produces equal masses of CO2 and alcohol. example: 23 ltr of 5% ABV contains 1.15 ltr alcohol (23 x 5 / 100). And 1.15 ltr alcohol would weigh 908g (1150g x 0....

Re: Crown Cap Problems?
I have never had trouble with caps but some beers took ages longer to carbonate for no obvious reason.

Re: comparisons of different fermentation set ups
If where your fermenting it is warm enough to not need heating only cooling I would go no 2, if you need to chill right down around 0C then get no 3 otherwise brew fridge. This is just my 1st thoughts after a quick look.

Re: Harsh bitter Taste at end of flavour profile
Nothing to add to the conversation how its been going but I had a Surrey hills Greensand IPA in the weatherspoon last weekend and it fitted this threads subject perfectly, ie all the hop flavour was in the aftertaste and harsh and bitter.

Re: Floating Krausen!?!
I probably do use slightly more protofloc than recommend, so that's an interesting thought and I must try using less. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience of this? I severely doubt Protafloc has anything to do with it. It's job is to coagulate proteins and polyphenols in the boil. Over use c...

Re: Does it matter what I use for a bittering hop?
Just to add I really like the harsh bitterness of target and think its the most under rated hop especially since its one of the cheapest, it also works well as a late hop even though its considered a pure bittering hop.
And just to confirm yes it does matter what bittering hop you use.

Re: Floating Krausen!?!
Just wondering did you use a large amount of irish moss or protofloc in this as I have found to much causes the yeast to float in clumps but can't find much confirmation.
