Nice one Jim.
I did a similar thing using a JG Bulkhead connector.
I have found the carbonation caps to be problematic. One leaked like a sieve and another wouldn't accept the gas in disconnect.

Re: stuck mash ?
Must say two John Luc's confused me for a while - why was the OP replying to his own question :D Any way back to the GF Last years I had one on trial and did two brews. As I was testing the kit and not my recipes I bought a couple of mash kits from HBC. The first brew day went perfectly with everyth...

Re: Keg Set Up Questions
Ref Corny Kegs: I have bought both new and S/H over the last couple of years with varying results: New - Costs ore but seals with no pressure S/H - Grade A* - Again costs a bit more but were supplies with new seals and no dents S/H - cheap - cheaper but needed seal replacements (and in one case a ne...

Re: Boiler to Hozelock?
1/2 inch (12mm) ID silicone hose is a snug fit on the hozelock male fittings. Then you would just need a tap with a 1/2 inch barb.
Also the silicone hose will not deform with the hot water (some hose pipes go very soft with hot water).

Check where the regulator fits to the CO2 bottle. I have found these do 'loosen' a bit over time (the seal compresses)

Re: Started the brew shed
Personally I would forget the felt and go for the rubber roofing. It may be more expensive but it is essentially fit and forget. My felt lasted about 2 years and I replaced it last year with a rubber version (think it was from rubber4roofs). One continuous sheet so no joins, just glue it in place. A...

Re: Upgrading to cornies - confused to say the least!
You can use one of these to keep the kegs cool http://www.geterbrewed.com/cool-brewing-bag/ They are designed for fermenters but I am using one to store the cornies that won't fit in the fridge. You can easily get 2 cornies in (possibly 3) and you just need to freeze a few water bottles and keep the...
