Re: Chocolate flavour

I've successfully used chocolate extract. You get it in liquid form just like vanilla extract.

Crusader keg parts.

Anyone know where to get spare parts for crusader kegs ? I've got a slimline 20l bought from brewuk I've managed to damage the spear and asked them if they can source a replacement and was just told to look on eBay ! So basically anyone who buys crusader kegs from them are stuffed if anything goes w...

Re: Green hop quantities

Personally I'd use a known hop for bittering and use the wild hops at 10 mins, flameout and dry hopping.

You want to increase your wet hop vs dry hop rates by 4 or 5 times, 1.5 is nowhere near enough.

Maxi 110 for Wort cooling?

Yes it recirculates chilled water ( just make sure you get one with a recirculation pump on it) You use it with a temp sensor such as an STC-1000 or an inkbird. This monitors the temp of the wort and switches the maxi 110 on and off as required to maintain the ideal temp of the wort It only does coo...

Re: Maxi 110 for Wort cooling?

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a Maxi 110? it sounds as though it could be useful to me. One of these. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160921/63243e2ce7e8c8432a6421e54fc4a9c8.jpg It's used to cool beer when serving through a font. It sits inline between the keg and the beer tap. Although as Hom...

Re: 3/8" SS Coil UK

I'm looking for something similar for the internal cooling of my 100l fermenter. The problem with the Homebrew builder one is the tightness of the coils makes cleaning harder. Im swaying towards using a cask cooling probe, which can be picked up for about £26 delivered. It would be a lot easier to k...

Re: Maxi 110 for Wort cooling?

No, because you'd be running 60+ degree water back to the machine which would melt the ice back, which means the only cooling would come from the compressor, which would soon burn out trying to cool water at such a high temp.

Re: First Gold green hope recipe?

I'm just brewing with mine that I picked this morning. Here's what I'm brewing, it's all grain so not sure it's any use to you. The first gold are green hops and the steep is being done in the hop rocket. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160911/152b7867383b925f690c5f09b23d14d1.jpg http://uploads.ta...

Re: Hopback Vs Dry Hopping

I bought one, used it once and never used it again. It's gathering dust in the brew shed. Main problems are the fact I have to buy leaf hops to use in it. If your making a small batch, it wastes about a litre of wort. And is another piece of kit to clean. On the plus side, you can circulate hot wort...
