Re: Fridge for Fermenting and Conditioning

Wiring the controller is very easy. If you search for PTC1000 wiring diagram. Its two plugs and something else just as simple. Otherwise there is someone on here selling a premade version. The way the controller works is that when it senses the temp is too high it will switch on whatever you have at...

Re: Pegas Novotap

Yes, had a read of the Aussie forums where they started using it first and that's what they're doing. Long term I plan to attach it to a board, remove the bottle lifter and make a lifting device of my own that will push up from beneath.

What size tube did you use? 3/8 plus heat and force?

Pegas Novotap

There have been a lot of discussion about different ways to fill bottles from kegs and there are plenty of solutions that are cheap and work very well. However if you want to splash out on something 'professional' then this is pretty high up on the shiney scale. I haven't put it together and it migh...

Re: Anyone use Camco 5.5KW elements?

I've got two. One in the boil and one in the HLT, both 100L pots. They're great and if you can sort the power supply they're fantastic. You don't 'need' them but they keep my brewday short and that's reason enough for me!

Re: Wheat Beer - Nothing but foam

Surely at 6psi you'll lose condition or do you turn down the pressure every time you wanted a glass?

Re: Wheat Beer - Nothing but foam

Can't chill the kegs. 30 psi is right for the length of line I have and the volume of CO2 in the beer. Remember this is at room temp. Besides things are OK for non wheat beers at that temp.

Wheat Beer - Nothing but foam

I'm having trouble with a wheat beer that I've made. My setup is corny keg ---> 60cm 3/8" to inline chiller ---> 14m 1/2" stainless chiller coil ---> 2m 3/16" to perlick flow control tap Kegs are stored at room temp which is about 20C and line is insulated from the chiller out to the tap. Pressure s...

Re: Dome shaped krausen

Probably because the sides of the container create resistance is the krausen rising whereas the middle it free to rise. The extra protein from the wheat tends to make a more stable (bigger) krausen.

Nothing to worry about.

The draw of the shiney is a strong one! I've been caught out by it many times!

Re: Corny Keg advice

The CO2 supermarket fitting doesn't fit standard regulators(or at least my one). There's one in Australia that apparently works and is made from steel. Can't find it in the UK though.
Stick with proper bottles.

Re: How to controll the 24V mag pumps.

Why the preference for panel control? That was my aim initially but its actually more useful to have the control next to the outlet so you can see what's happening. The 24V pumps are really good.

Re: Banding patterns on yeast

The more often you use it the more likely this is to happen. If I were you I'd retire the yeast. Dried US-05 is cheap and easy to get.

Re: Banding patterns on yeast

I've seen this somewhere before on JBK and I think mozza is right. Probably not a mutation just natural variation in yeast. Is this the first time you've used/washed it? Were there any big changes in temp either in making the starter or the beer? Were the wort and starter at the same temp when you p...
