Re: Nitrogen cylinder thread size

Re: Wine bottle crates
I bought six of these - they accepted an offer of £45 and at that price, you probably couldn't but the wood to make your own.

Re: Hop Fade
I've just fined an ale, gin clear. 9 gall went into cornies, one gallon I kept back in a demijohn and dry hopped with about a tablespoon full of cascade pellets in a nylon bag. After 24 hours, I've transferred to another demijohn and what was clear beer now looks like muddy water, because of the dry...

Re: Heating for mash tun?
You obviously are looking for some real control over your mash temperature and the benefits of RIMS and HERMS deliver this and with amazing wort clarity that helps towards getting a clear beer at the end. A precise mash temp means you have more control over the fermentability of the wort. You say t...

Re: Heating for mash tun?
I Was planning to have the electric blanket under an ordinary blanket, but I wonder if the 60w heat output will make a worthwhile difference.

Electric blanket seems to tick all the boxes though, thanks.

Heating for mash tun?
I mash outside and rely on insulation to keep the mash warm. With the cold weather approaching, I'm wondering about adding some auxiliary heat. My mash tun is stainless, non magnetic, so an induction hob is not an option, but I wonder about using a single electric hotplate under my mash tun, with a ...

I have the top one and it's a faff adjusting to multiple different bottles sizes. For this reason, I'd go for the green one.

Re: Hop Growing 2015
What's happened to my hops? The plants are about 5 years old and have always done really well. 5 English varieties, in different areas of the garden with some variety of soil type. Fed with tomato food and watered when needed. They were doing well until about 6 weeks ago, when all growth stopped and...
