Re: Bust fridage? Help!
Sorry Old thumper but that silver wire is not a wire at all but a tube. I am not an expert but I think the other end of it is attached to a temp probe the expands and contracts whatever is in the tube and operates that large lump your holding to switch the compressor on and off when needed. You wil...

Re: ATC800 Problem
Have any of you ATC boffins ever had this appear on your display ? Er, no - that looks quite poorly! Does it do anything vaguely sensible (e.g. if you hold the set button down for a while does it get you to set a target temperature) or is that all it does? Can you post how you've wired it - sure so...

Re: Good online brew shop
Is Peterborough too far to travel, Matt? Les over at Burghley Homebrew is a good guy with decent prices. http://www.burghley-homebrew.com He's just off the A47 near Eye Green. You'll need a map to find him because he's out in the sticks and his "shop" is a double garage on the side of his house! He...

Re: Brewing Fridge
Im looking into buying a fridge to convert into both a fermentation chamber and a cooler so that I can make full use of it. Does anyone go for a particular fridge type/make/model? I know the under the counter ones look good but they have half of the bottom of the fridge taken up with the internal g...

Re: Easiest way to wash bottles?
I see there are a few threads on bottles at the moment, ive finally collected enough (or should that be drunk) bottles to do another lager brew. Stupidly i didnt rinse any of them out over the months of collecting them. Ive just tied them up and noticed that some of them have some mould growing in ...

Hop cuttings - any tips?
Friends in the village mentioned that they thought there was a hop plant climbing up a telegraph pole. Without much hope of success I took a wander the other day and found the bedraggled remains of last years plant which, from the smell and the cones is definitely a hop. Was toying with the idea of ...

Re: Fermenting cupboard
You should be fine provided the shed doesn't get too warm - and it sounds a nice simple approach. Having said that it may be worth taking a look on fleabay to see if there are any v. cheap second-hand fridges nearby. I picked up a larder fridge recently for less than it would have cost me to get the...

I should have asked - have you tried these? My LHBS stocks the Liss one's and so be good to know if they'll work.
Thanks,

Cornelius question
I've bought a few cheap second hand cornies recently, the latest being two of the 9 litre ones (without lids and a bit caked up) at five pounds each. I've cleaned them up with Oxy, and whilst one looks good the other has a few marks on the bottom. I thought these were gunk but they've tuned out to b...

Re: 16g CO2 cylinders for Innovations Keg Charger
I got one of the key chargers for christmas from mum and dad, and with it they bought some Youngs 16g bulbs. They work well , they're non-threaded, and simply puncture as you screw the bottom on. Mine came from Quay Side in Exeter ( http://www.quaysidehomebrew.co.uk/index.asp ) , can't see the bulbs...

Re: Silly mistake thread. List yours here.
For my first two brews misreading the calculator so failing to account for the amount you lose during the boil - couldn't work out why always came up short. #-o Forgot the protafloc on my last brew (a Summer Lightning Clone). Checked the FG in one FV, didn't check it in the second until after I'd bo...

Re: Kegerator Build
Nice one Chris, looking good. =D> Had to do a double take when I saw you had four cornies inside - but then reread the bit about the extras being conditioning (presumably you can also swap in/out pipes fast when you get to the end of a keg :D ) Is that a small chest freezer? Just thinking I could fi...

Re: maturing beer in a pressure barrel before bottling
I primed it when it went into the barrel and after a month I had an amazing beer in the barrel, good carbonation and head. I then bottled (without priming) and I now have a headless flat porter (I still have it left over from Christmas which says something!). I usually half fill a Kingkeg with what...
