Re: Key Kegs

:D After some guidance from a fairly well known brewer, I have been able to get the inner bag out of the keg.

The idea is to use the keg not as a serving keg but as a FV (just need to check the PET bottle as such is sorta food safe.)

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

Managed to keg the beer today as its cold in the brewing room I have bought the keg into the house to naturally carbonate / condition for a week or so. (Looking good at the moment.) Will then transfer to the kegerator, pour a pint or so off to clear any sediment. fingers crossed in 4 or 5 weeks time...

Key Kegs

I while ago, possible 7 years I used to use 20/30l PET kegs as an extra way of storing of beer, these kegs were just basically a large PET bottle with a female coupler which excepted a standard style keg connector, very easy to reuse. Recently a local bar said they had some Key Kegs so I thought I w...

Re: Replacement controllers

Thinking cap on, the old grey matter isnt what it used to be. I am trying to remember how the old BM controller worked on the pump side of things from memory they would operate the pump and everyso often do a pump break during the mash recirc to let things settle. (much in the same way the new contr...

Re: Replacement controllers

I have found the thread from when I made my BM with the Aussie controller, only 27 pages long  Due to photobucket messing around all the photos have now disappeared, but there are still quite a few useful links in the the thread. https://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=62803&h...

Re: Replacement controllers

Many moons ago the Australians look up the Aussie forums made a knock off original style BM controller this was possibly 6 years ago. New controllers can be bought from BM but your probably looking at a few hundred pound. The Aussie ones also had different connections so they would all need to chang...

Re: Northdown & Cascade for Christmas - White Deer

IMHO there is quite a bit of flavour difference between UK and USA Cascade. UK Cascade are a more muted experience which can be an advantage depending on what you are trying to achieve in the final result.

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

I managed to pitch the yeast on Saturday afternoon and as expected it took off a few hours later. I have several packets of Crossmyloof dried yeast that I need to use up BBE Jun 2021 but like general food grocery items I tend not to take too much notice of (BBE) Best before end dates so just the one...

Extremely mild day and night. In a tee shirt most of the day had to put a jumper on this evening though. Slight accident earlier managed to slip arse first into a very large puddle. Trousers are still hang in a tree to dry.

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

Sleeping bags have a comfort rating of 0 to 6c with an absolute limit down to -15c so if anything might be slightly too warm at night. I don’t mind the cold if it's dry so hope the rain stays away. Nothing worst than being stuck in a tent when it’s too wet to go outside even worse trying to get clot...
