Corny keg pimping
As its the bank holiday i've had too much free time. Took to trying out a bit of tarting up of a corny i got via the recent homebrewcompany deal. The second keg i had delivered was pretty bashed so i've lightly sanded down and sprayed with some plasti-kote. Dont ask why i went with purple but when s...

Re: Coriander Wheat Beer
I've just made a batch of 50/50 pale to wheat malt with saaz and late boadicea hops. I bunged 20g of crushed coriander loose at the 15min boil point. An early sampling from the keg last night (4 days into secondary) and there's a pleasant citrus flavour. The 19ltrs all gone into one of the 2nd hand ...

Re: Sima - Finnish fermented lemonade
Morning WA, I neglected doing a SG check as i made it whilst watching the Scotland/Gibraltar match (as we were actually winning I was discombobulated). As I was attempting to keep the alcohol at 0.1% the yeast is only to get some carbonation. It apparently should take about three days start to finis...

Re: Sima - Finnish fermented lemonade
After chilling it was ready for sampling. Very tasty and quite refreshing. Will certainly make again but probably with a lighter brown sugar. Might also try to mix up the fruit options.

Sima - Finnish fermented lemonade
Been looking into making some fermented soft drinks in between beer batches. First recipe I found was for Sima, a Finnish lemonade usually made for Mayday. The recipe was 3ltrs of water with 170g brown sugar, 170g White sugar, 2 lemons (thinly sliced) , 1/8tsp champagne yeast and some raisins. Boile...

Re: brewolution brewster rims
The videos for this are sublime. I especially enjoy the Mexican inspired fanfare at the end of each one. The grainfather certainly knows its target audience by making it in lovely stainless steel and being a lot more streamlined. I would assume this unit will do nothing more than give inspiration to...

Re: Can someone please persuade me to buy this?
Would the stainless brew bucket http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.ph ... ductId=585 be a better option as its half the cost of the 7 gallon chronical but still has a conical base?

Re: Compact brewery build or Grain Father?
Cheers for the link, used Microsoft translator to read the webpage and one of the features was translated as 'More powerful gods in the brew kettle'.
Now that is a selling feature!

Re: Compact brewery build or Grain Father?
Ive been waiting on the grain father price to decide between buying or building. I have a electric keggle that I use for biab and was looking to upgrade it to more like a gain father style system. The trade off seems to be a fixed capacity that will do the job over putting together your own version ...

Re: Very odd outcome
Strangely I'm trying to make beer jelly firstly using a youngs chocolate stout. If it works I'll be trying some more with my Christmas ale. Hopefully it'll come out the same consistency as the terrible wheat.

Re: Very odd outcome
Cheers Charles for the link. I did leave this to ferment for 14 days as it wasn't fermenting out fully by day 7. I roused the bucket to get the yeast working again and this could of let nasties into it. I also make a lot of bread in my kitchen and found the initial trial jar following a recent boil ...

Re: Very odd outcome
smdjoachim, thanks for the vid. It's exactly like that. I've been brewing AG for several years and never had a batch go this wrong.
i have a batch of Christmas ale on at the moment so will keep a careful eye on it.

Very odd outcome
Evening All, I recently made a batch of the simple wit and the brew day went fine hitting at the targets. Left it to ferment for two weeks and then bottled. Two weeks have since passed and just tried to open one for a sample. The odd part is that it pours like a syrup and is in the glass like jelly....

Re: Hoppy American IPA
That has highlighted two important things; 1; Laser cutting your own tags is seriously cool and sets a high bar for packaging. 2; you sir have married well!

Re: Hoppy American IPA
Loving the bottle tag and label. May I ask if the tags are bought in? I'm sticking a Christmas batch on this weekend and am thinking if I package them to your standard I might cover up if the batch goes bad
