Re: Help! So much sludge with pellet hops

I would move to a secondary at some point once fermentation has slowed down, not a practice that I usually follow but as you have more than just a bit of trub in there thats the approach I would take in this instance.

Re: wyeast 1187 ringwood

How old was it? The pack will claim 100bn cells but that is from day 1. How did you aerate? I follow the o2 process here I always use a starter with liquid yeast, an exception would maybe be with a very fresh Imperial Yeast pack if it is less than 2 weeks old and an Ale I am brewing but otherwise a ...

Re: Mini Keg using carbonated beer

Thanks for the tip!! These ones are Fynne Ales but will keep that in mind as my brother in law likes Ghost Ship in the mini keg so will be getting him that next time and request he keeps it for me when done.

Re: Mini Keg using carbonated beer

Thanks for the comments. What I think I may do is fill one for drinking the same day / weekend and see how I get on. I have a brew on keg I am a unsold on so may just experiment and fill one, leave it a couple of weeks then do a side by side to see if any visible signs of deterioration. In any case ...

Mini Keg using carbonated beer

I have some mini kegs from Christmas from some breweries which are ones which are intended for retail sale and single use, having a tap at the bottom. I have bought replacement bungs which are the same as the original where you release pressure when drawing from the tap. I have removed the bung from...

I full volume mash in my BM. I make my additions when mashing in. Interested also to hear others views on this.

Re: Hambledon Bard refill S30 discontinued

Malt Miller stocks 2 types of in post, but there are various size threads on cornie type keg posts. Whilst not the main issue I have had it was one of the drivers which has led to me phasing out the used kegs I initially started out with to the new AEB kegs. I bought some of the 'older' type posts ...

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

Nice idea but I find these sorts of things cuddly, and probably a waste of money when you can just cut your dip tube a half inch. This method takes it from the top and not near the bottom so is a bit different, whether that improves it significantly is down to opinion. I have been satisfied with re...

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

Nice one. Did you have to do much to fit the cask widget - for example, was the length of tubing ok? And did you have any problem with the tube kinking or frothing? I'd imagine you'd either cut the beer diptube short and connect the tubing, or swap the dip tube for a gas post and connect it to that...

Re: Floating dip tube for corny

As recommended on here a while back I use a Cask Widge float on a couple of my kegs. This leaves approximately 700ml behind in the Keg once it kicks, an advantage of this is for those who like to dry hop in the keg where you ensure that nothing clogs it up. The mesh on the pickup float also helps ad...

Thanks. I am still weighing things up as I quite like the idea of something mobile which will keep them cool for a session and can go outdoors etc.

Re: Cooler to house kegs

Sorry I forgot to reply on this. That looks a good compromise for me to get a keg in the house. Is that a 48L one?

Re: Cooler to house kegs

:D. I already have one 9L Corny with a thermo jacket but find that when sitting out I need to mess about with the flow control and / or pressure. This time of year is a bit easier as it can sit outside between pours but would prefer something which keeps it constant and is also handy to take to othe...
