Re: Cider in pressure barrel
Turbo cider is analagous to what most domestic consumers would call "cider" - highly carbonated white cider (with fruit flavours, etc to suit), rather than a traditional scrumpy type cider - PBs just arent up to the pressures that such levels of carbonation would exert on them.

Re: Poppy seeds
Yes, don't worry about the seeds, it's not where the opiates come from (as said that's the juice obtained by slashing the poppy flower bud). If poppy seeds were an issue my daily poppy seed bagel (or three) would be an issue. I think the only mind-altering substance in the brew will be ETOH :) Cong...

Re: Pilsner Water Quality
Your local aquarium shop can supply you with reverse osmosis (RO) water which is almost as naked as distilled - but at a fraction of the price of bottled water. Build your own mineral profile from there.

Yep, it's a nutrient for the yeast, WA. Old Distillers trick for the mash. As OB says tho. it's probably dearer to buy than dedicated yeast nutrient - http://byo.com/mead/item/2043-what-are-yeast-nutrients-and-how-are-they-used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yeast-Nutrient-Diammonium-Phosphate-D-A-P-500g...

Re: Turbo cider first?
From experience, Ribena in brews WILL ferment - tho I've always boiled it before use; certainly wont hurt. One thing turbo's dont do is finish sweet - non-fermentable sugars will be needed.

Picked up a few of these from the local Lidl branch - whilst supping, I noticed that there's a thin dusting of yeast in the bottle

Re: Marris Otter alternative
Yep, always worth experimenting. One suggestion from my own experience though, don't get 'too' fixated on yield or efficiency. On commercial scales these are very important, and within homebrew they can become something to brag about, BUT they are not the same as quality or consistency, and the lat...
