That’s a lovely head [emoji106] my Homebrew never has much by way of a head at all.

Re: 5 blades Piña Colada
I added the pineapple and coconut yesterday. Was nervous about how I’d filter the fruit out when bottling so decided to put the fruit into mesh bags and I put the bags into a clean glass demijohn and syphoned the beer on top. Was left with an inch or so of space at the top. Secondary fermentation se...

5 blades Piña Colada
Greetings! I had myself a brew day today, attempting a 1 gallon batch of this recipe - https://www.fivebladesbrewing.com/homebrew-recipes/nhc-2016/like-pina-coladas/ Dividing the malts by 5, I used 365g Pilsner 365g White wheat Guessed the reduced mash volume, and mashed in 2 litres, sparged with 4 ...

Apple IPA
I had a bottle of this tonight and basically it’s amazing. Not much head on it, but oh man... It tastes almost like apple sherbet. Passion fruit and apple flavours. Incredible. Very very happy with it! Oh aye, and when it came to bottling time I mixed the two demijohn’s worth of beer together in a b...

Re: Horrible taste...? John Bull IPA
What do you use?
I think when I made the IPA I put in 500g light spraymalt and 500g sugar.

Re: Horrible taste...? John Bull IPA
Yeah, the bottles were just sitting at room temp at the back of the cupboard. I suppose, like yous say, it could be a number of things. I’d thought that once beer was in the bottle and had primed and tasted good, that it was then essentially safe and in the clear! When I tried it the other night and...

Horrible taste...? John Bull IPA
Hey folks, I brewed a John Bull IPA kit around about March / April this year. I made a hop tea using 25g Amarillo on brew day, then after a week I dry hopped it with another 25g Amarillo. After the brew I bottled it and when it came time to drinking I enjoyed it but remember thinking that the hop fl...

Apple IPA
lol. I slept next to it, hugging the demijohn like a teddy to keep it warm [emoji23][emoji6] It smells amazing in the cupboard. Don’t think I’ll bother dry hopping it, cause it smells really hoppy already and ... incase it’s watery crap ... I don’t want to waste my hops! I probably will go back and ...

Re: Apple IPA
I think what I’ll probably end up doing is I’ll mix both DJs of beer together at priming time. That way I’ll have one big batch or identical beer rather than two small ones.

Apple IPA
Oh no, I’m not planning on chucking it! Nothing that drastic! Lol. Having slept on it, on consideration, I shouldn’t have panicked and split the batch and watered it down so much. The muntons yeast is apparently good up to about 8%, so at 1090 it would’ve maybe fermented out to about 1030, likely gi...

Re: Apple IPA
Can anyone give me their take on this please.... I tried to make this apple IPA idea tonight. I shouldn’t have bothered. Maybe got a big ahead of myself... I bought a 12l pot recently cause I’m going to have a go at making some small all grain batches. I was keen to use it, so I decided to do a smal...

Re: Black Forest stout idea
I bottled this beer tonight. There was A LOT of sediment in the demijohn. Could probably have been doing with being racked again and left for another while. I also seriously messed up with my stupid syphon. Ended up with only 6x 500ml bottles from just under 4 litres in the DJ, but as I says, there ...

Re: Planning - Spiced Cyser
Hi Jambo! The cyser seems to have gone fine, although I haven’t yet tried any! It fermented down to 1007 from about 1115-1120 or so, so I worked that out to be about 14.1%. I added in the cinnamon and nutmeg after 7 days and I bottled it after 14 days. Since doing this I’ve read that I should probab...

Re: Simple Cheap and Tasty, Raspberryade
I tried a bottle of this framboise effort last night and you know what.... It’s actually really nice! Super pleased with how it has turned out. Tasted like I think it’s meant too. Wheaty and hoppy and fruity. Could maybe be a bit more tart, but it is really tasty. The priming has done wonders to to ...
