Re: If you could choose one hop to brew with Nelson Sauvin what would it be?

I have bittered with Challenger and late hopped with Nelson, a lovely brew. Sounds a great idea, would you mind sharing that recipe? Hi Kingfisher The recipe is nothing special. The method I use is to think of how I want the malt to be, and think of the hopping separately. So for something with hop...

Re: Bottling Your Brew Part 1 - Greedy Dragon Brewing

Wow 2 video's totalling 28 mins to show how to use a bottling stick from a bottling bucket.
Im thinking of doing a 20 min video of me typing this reply.

Re: Oak aging?

I've been useing some Jack daniels oak chips for a few years that are sold for BBQ's. They are chipped jack daniels barrels 100% oak no aditives to assist burning. I use them to age rum and whisky, but have also used them with some of my beers. As they are very spirit soaked they are well sanitized....

Re: Sharing homebrew with other brewers in this community?

Just thought it would be a fun idea, I've seen other YouTube vloggers doing it and it's entertaining and informative from a brewer's perspective. I would be posting my beers out to other brewers too, not just me having all the fun! Oh well, that idea obviously went down like a lead balloon 🎈 😂 haha...

Re: Cheap One Pot Klarstein

Just an update on the Klarstein. I have just done my second brew on it, and again I say its fine. I did a 17L brew 1049. I used a hop spider and pellets. I did the boil outside. Although its probably able to brew up to about 24L, I got this to brew smaller batches around 15-17L, With around 18L in i...

Re: Guinness clone. ?

Hi Alfie Welcome back. The GW recipe is a fine recipe. I too have been using it for years, I've tried lots of others but always come back to the 70/20/10 grain bill. I sometimes have used other hops, and a few different yeasts. Maybe you could try some WLP 004 yeast which is supposed to be from Guin...

Re: potato wine

The effort you are going to have to go to, to get a small amount of nasty tasting wine.
Why not try it 1st with sugar, it'll taste better than potato, but still taste nasty.
Unless you are then going to distill it, I wouldn’t bother.

Re: Cheap One Pot Klarstein

Hi Dave I've just measured the capacity. 26L from empty to the max marking, Then another 5 and a half liters to the brim. 23L should be fine. If the mash temp drops the element is switched back on until it reaches the mash temp again. You should recirculate a few jugs and stir. Yes it does have litt...

Re: Cheap One Pot Klarstein

Thanks posting about this Norm. It’s seriously tempting. If only it were slightly bigger to enable it to boil down to 23 litres for a king keg! Just a quick question, as I could make slightly smaller batches - do you think it would be possible/advisable to boil the wort using the grain pipe in it a...
