Re: Jingle balls ( christmas 2014)

Their is a shock effect pitching yeast in to high gravity beer, so it is better to pitch yeast that is already in healthy fermentation, or their is a risk of ending up with flat beer. As the yeast has not fully fermented the starter, the 20g sugar is an estimate of how much will be left in the star...

Re: Jingle balls ( christmas 2014)

When i'm bottling a beer that is in storage for a while I take about a 3rd of a sachet of yeast (so4, so5 safelager) rehydrate in water and make a 250ml-300ml starter. Re: Corny query

I only get 1/2 pint of cloudy beer at the beginning and 1/2 pint at the end when it foams.

I've only used a blichmann beer gun for filling bottles and it's superb as long as the beer is not a highly carbonated wheat beer or similar.

Re: Are you a Kegger or a Bottler?

I quickly moved onto cornie kegs, CO2 and a blichmann beer gun, now I can rack to a cornie force carbonate and leave it until I'm ready to bottle at the same time I can be drinking from the cornie. This means once its in the cornie there is no time pressure to bottle it and when I do bottle I can ea...
