Re: Conical Recommendations

LeeH - I have a similar fridge to yourself for my fermentasaurus, along with the same sized greenhouse heater. I'm finding in these cold months it struggles to get the temp up to 20°C (I brew in the garage). Do you have any crafty method to get the heat circulating or is your brewery ambient tempera...

Re: Should I harvest now, or dump

Hi guys, hope everyone had a great Christmas. So fermentation has finished and after crashing I have transferred to the keg. I've pulled off the collection ball and this is what I have on the bottom, is this going to be enough to make starter with? I have also included a photo for comparison of the ...

Re: Should I harvest now, or dump

Thanks both as always for your recommendations. So I have changed the collection ball, they have a 0.5ltr capacity so it looks as though I have a lot of yeast here (yay) As I may not be brewing again for 3/4+ weeks I know I will need to make a starter, which is fine, but should I use all of this or ...

Re: Should I harvest now, or dump

So keep this lot and the lot that settles after cooling? Will there be much difference in them or do you mix it together? Yes it is still going atm, I want to make sure I'm ready lol

Re: Fermentasaurus Mod

Yeah I'm thinking about that one, I have a big glass fronted cola style fridge with a solid base so need to think about some supports for underneath instead. I'm sure I have some timber knocking around...

Re: Fermentasaurus Mod

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. The outlet gap in the swivel nut is going to be a major limiting factor I think so I'm going to put this off I recon. I'll spend a tenner and get a 1ltr soda stream bottle for the collection bottle instead.

Thanks everyone

Should I harvest now, or dump

Evening all. I'm looking to harvest my yeast (Safale w-34/70 in a Lager) and I'm nearing the end of fermentation (1.009) and was wondering if you would recommend ditching this yeast once fermentation has fully stopped, re-attaching the collection bottle and harvesting what settles after crash coolin...

Fermentasaurus Mod

Hi everyone I'm thinking of moding my fermentersaurus dump valve to Tri Clamp fittings and was wondering about people's thoughts on my design. The existing butterfly valve is pretty hard work and, I think, a bit small. Plus I find I waste a load of fermenting wort everytime I empty the collection ba...

Re: Moving/lifting full fermenters?

I was thinking of getting something like this as the table lifts are a bit out of my price range;

Re: Placing temp controller on fridge

I was thinking about wall mounting but figured due to the depth of the unit the box would be massive! I've got an inkbird ITC-308 and was considering getting another but want to save £35/40 and use up the bits I already have

Placing temp controller on fridge

Hi everyone I'm slowly putting my kegerator together and having solved my 'big gap in the side' issue I'm now thinking about where to place my temperature controller. I have an STC-1000 and I have few options; 1. Project box on the top 2. Project box inside 3. Cutting a rectangle in the top and moun...

Re: Making gallon makers inside kettle

Just updating this - I tried out the 'vinegar/salt + battery' etch solution yesterday and it worked friggen' awesome! Got everything all marked up inside the vessel - most of the lines are even straight - and my daughter added a picture of a dog from a stencil we had lying around. Even my wife was ...

Re: Insulation for beer fridge

Strontium dog - did you get sorted with your insulation? I have some off cuts of 25mm celotex left over from insulation a shed, I could send you a small piece if still needed @Wet Spaniel: I have kind of got it sorted, I used something similar (found a square of insulation foam and molded it with a...
