Re: During Fermentation
I remember my first brew and how I seemed magnetically drawn to the FV almost every 5 minutes! I was sure it would go wrong if I didn't keep looking at it. After a few brews it gets easier to trust that what should be happening actually is happening. Temperature wise you can ferment at 60 but it wil...

Re: During Fermentation
2 days is too soon to be sure. Best continue the fermentation as normal, leave alone as much as possible and try some after 2 weeks.
If it then tastes bad, get rid of it. If it tastes ok be glad you allowed it to fully ferment.
Patience is one of a brewers best tools.

Re: Woodforde Wherry stuck
When my wherry stuck early last year I asked the same question. The consensus was to gently stir without creating bubbles in the beer, just enough to disturb the sediment at the bottom of the fv. Then leave it for 48 hours and check again. This worked for mine and it got down to 1010 within 3 days. ...

Re: Starting from scatch !!!
Hi Johnny Welcome and good luck with the brew, let's hope it's the first of many! The spray malt replaces the initial sugar (first fermentation). The "bottling sugar" is for carbonation and primes the flat beer at the bottling stage. The beer then carbonates and conditions in the bottles (or keg). B...

Re: Off-flavours due to mash tun?
I don't know if it applies but I have read that the ball valve needs extra care when cleaning and sterilizing.
Liquid can be trapped in the valve and harbour "nasties".
Like I say, it may not be the case but it is worth checking.

Re: First Brew Question - How Bad Could it Be?
Hi Mojosdad I have just completed my third BIAB and each brewday has gone smoothly. My advice would be to plan everything in advance. Make sure you know what to do and when to do it! You won't have timings for getting up to mash temperature or from there to boiling until you have done a few brews bu...

Re: gas leak in keg - no head on beer
Last night I agitated the beer to get the yeast back into suspension and today my head has returned!
I just have to wait for the beer to clear again and I'll be a happy brewer.

gas leak in keg - no head on beer
I have a wherry in the keg and for the first 3 weeks all was good. During the last week the seal in the cap has moved and the pressure has been lost. I have sorted out the seal and regassed the keg but the beer now has no head. Do I just leave it pressurised and hope the head/carbonation retur...
