Strange Alcohol Percentages from DME
Hi all, Just did my first ever kit with DME, it said to use 800g of sugar, however I was using DME the expected % was to be 4.5% with sugar, but DME that amount came out at just over 3% it didn't even fit into the orange bar (beer) on my hydrometer, topped up to 1kg and it brought it up to around 4%...

Hoping, upgrading kits
Hi all, seen a couple of videos explaining this but its not very clear so decided to ask. If I buy 100g of cascade hops (store in fridge?) how much should I use for a 20litre batch of beer? And what is the difference in taste etc, when doing 1. making a tea, i.e. boil for 5-10 mins in water then add...

Cheapest Dried Malt Extract in UK?
So anyone got a retailer for buying DME and Kits cheapest inc delivery? Seems quite expensive at the brew shops that google bring up with minor searching, so recommended companies/shops?

BIAB Advice (new)
Okay, so brewed my third kit and decided after talking to friends I want to try a part grain or full. Noticed a few places are selling bags with all the ingredients, and some you don't have to do the boil part, so anyone recommend me a specific BIAB (link to shop?) for a noob first timer that is £2...

Coopers Real Ale kit
Hi all, third kit on the go, did it today with some brown caster sugar (I know shoot me now) ended up forgetting to go my homebrew shop and I don't drive so wouldn't of had chance to get up there for a week or so, so just went with what I had. Re: Flavouring my donner and blitzed
Seriously, you want to add flavour? You haven't tasted this then.
I had one of mine on Sunday that had only been in the bottle a week and it is so malty and nutty, you really don't need any more flavour, this is a good beer tbh.

Priming, Issues storing in cellar?
I noticed that quite a lot of people mention priming bottles should be stored in a warm place before moving to cellar, but is there actually any issues with storing in cellar straight after bottle? If so I need to move my second beer that is currently down there.

Re: Anything wrong with my method.
Okay, so my next beer I intend to make a pale ale kit, so I should do that as normal, but leave for two or three weeks rather then the one week recommended by the kit makers?
I have no problem with that as I am sure your know much more about this then myself.

Re: Anything wrong with my method.
Isn't there a chance of getting yeast bite leaving it that long as the yeast will die off? And I use a hydrometer, but not as much as I should really, I just went on the days and how long it was bubbling/not bubbling for (not exactly spot on but will try harder for next beer). Current brew was chris...
