Re: Wherry at Wikinsons stores

Of the 20 beer kits listed on their website they only show stock for 3. The situation is almost as bad for the wine kits.
Supply problems maybe?

If you're after a good stout this ......

is the one to do. It's the Cooper's (not Irish) stout. Has been widely discussed over the years on here. It's as reliable as clockwork

Re: Wilko Pressure Barrel Valve.

If I remember correctly, back in the old days, the pins either pulled straight out or unscrewed. Although the new ones may have has the design simplified slightly to make them cheaper to manufacture, possibly preventing removal?

Re: Wilko Pressure Barrel Valve.

Forgive me if I've missed something but can't you just swap the valve out with the one from your old barrel?

Re: Orange zest

There's always https://www.lakeland.co.uk/61493/nielsen-massey-food-flavour-60ml-orange-extract . It's simply orange oil in an ethanol base with water. It's mentioned briefly in the above linked thread but I'm sure it has its own somewhere. Link to the label below.... https://www.lakeland.co.uk/cont...

Will report back in a few weeks. I hope this stuff is idiot proof and my wort into the fermenter is the clearest I've ever had 🤞

Re: Brewbrite

Hey @guypettigrew

Have you had the chance to try it for yourself yet? I've just bought a pot and will give it a go myself in a few weeks.
It's always good to get the views of a first time user 👍

Re: Brewbrite

After due consideration I think I'll have to try this stuff at least once. If the resulting beer turns out well enough I might continue to use it. Then again if it doesn't affect the flavour then why bother if the only benefit is a (hopefully) clearer beer? Hmmmmmm 🤔 Cheers Tom If you do try it mak...

The question is do you filter? I don't want any pvpp in anything I drink.

Added a couple of links to my previous post.

Tom, give them a once over before you proceed.
No, I don't filter. Will have a proper read of the linked article presently

Re: Brewbrite

I get that it's a mix of carrageenan and pvpp but don't fancy mixing it myself. If shop bought works then maybe. Was hoping that other purchasing options might be available

Brewbrite

Hi all

I'm curious about this stuff and fancy giving it a go, so......
Is the Malt Miller the only place that sells it in "home brew" amounts?
