Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
It's kinda hard to gauge the size of the OLED from the pictures. I thought the LCD would be smaller! Lol Do you have to get up really close to read the OLED? I need to put my specs on to read the oled. The LCD is much better. Depends upon the physical size of the display, what size OLED have you or...

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
Good news!
I'm going to use a Wemos D1 mini with a wemos battery shield + a small Lipo battery to act as a UPS in the event of a short power outage. The 1000maH battery should be able to power the setup for a day (if the LCD backlight remains off).

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
A question for anyone running BrewPiLess. If you set it in Beer Profile mode and then after a minute or so power the module off/on, what mode does the s/w enter (after the Wifi has reconnected) ? I'd expect it to resume in Beer Profile mode but it doesn't seem to do that and goes to Off mode. Which ...

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
Hi, Been reading this thread with interest. Does anyone have an 'idiots guide'? Biggest question - do any of these wi-fi things receive a signal from within a fermentation-fridge? MBC :) I have had one of the ESP8266 units connect to my Wifi from within a fermenting fridge but the fridge would need...

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
I enabled the LCD backlight timeout capability in BrewPiLess so the LCD switches off (well the backlight does) after 5 mins. Putting a push-button switch between D3 and ground allows me to turn the light back on again. I'm thinking of replacing the switch with a small PIR module so the backlight wil...

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
No, it's directly plugged into the NodeMCU so most probably below spec on the input voltage but it works....
If I were boxing it up for proper use then I'd probably supply Vcc with 5v and investigate if I then needed to go through level shifters for the data lines.

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
_maxReconnect = 0 causes the WifiSetup stayConnected method to continue trying to connect i.e. as alex mentioned, unlimited reconnection attempts. So, having looked at the code, it should attempt to reconnect if Wifi is lost. Just hooked it up to a 20x4 LCD which is displaying the same details as th...

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
I've noticed the same with my setup Andy. The WiFi is right at the limit of the signal to the shed and will drop out regularly. I changed the WiFi connect routine which enabled it to re-connect. This is in the main loop: if (WiFi.status() != WL_CONNECTED) { wifidrop++; //increments WiFi drop counte...

Re: Cheap Internet temperature logger
Is anyone running BrewPiLess in Beer Profile mode ? If so any issues with the unit dropping the Wifi connection ? I've got the s/w running on a Wemos D1 and a NodeMCU 1.0 devboard and both of them drop the Wifi after a period of time. The s/w is still running and doing it's controlling work, it's ju...

Re: CO2 in Surrey/Hants
As an update, today I picked up a CO2 cylinder from Wrights of Farnham (link above) for the princely sum of £19.20. That was an exchange price, full for empty as I already had an Air Liquide empty cylinder (they are Air Liquide stockists). It would have been an extra fiver if I was buying a full cyl...
