Re: KenRidge and California Connoisseur Kits
If you look at the instructions you'll see they're generic. They'll say things like use x at this point (If supplied) and (white wines only). The wine yeast will be a reasonable quality general purpose (LV1118 I believe) job that can work across a range of temperatures. The juice will be the main di...

Re: Sealing John guest disconnect
Mine doesn't need sealing. I spray it with star-san to check for leaks. If you over or under tighten it, it will leak. Use your hand to tighten, not tools.

Re: Disparity between refractometer and hydrometer
You can only use a refractometer to measure OG. When you use it to measure SG you need to do some math to take into account the alcohol. there's a few calculators out there - http://www.northernbrewer.com/learn/res ... alculator/ a quick google found this one.

Re: Check valves
there is a check valve that screws on to the corny disconnect mad by John guest I used them when I had a corny setup https://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/check-valve-for-disconnect-for-cornelius.html probably available from other suppliers as well Thanks, I'd seen those in the past and that is what I was ...

Re: Check valves
why not just pour out some beer from the overfull keg so the level is below the gas in dip tube. Hard to see it when star-san foam is in the way and pouring isn't something I want to do. In this case the problem was that I was moving kegs around and had taken the gas off. I also increased the press...

Check valves
So I overfilled one of my cornies with stout and the gas dip tube is below the surface. I have a y-splitter providing co2 attached to that cornie that is also attached to my light bitter keg (almost gone when I attached the stout). My light bitter is now a lot darker and tastes a bit different. Woul...

I haven't tried it myself yet, but venturi tubes are meant to be good. I'll be giving this a crack on me next brew.

I'm a big stout fan and this looks interesting. I'll have to try that when I have some beers drunk.

Re: Why am I still getting foam?
Dropped to 5psi. I'm getting gas building up in the line between pours. when i'm pouring i can see it coming out of the beer before it hits the tap. I'm guessing this is too much line?

Thanks, I'll drop it down a bit and see if that helpsAnthonyUK wrote:Once you have the required level of carbonation you only need enough pressure to push it out. 5psi or less should be enough.DeadFall wrote:Should I drop the gas in pressure now that it's been at 20psi for about a week?

Why am I still getting foam?
My calculations tell me that I need just under 3m of 5/16 beer line for my set up (I don't have a kegerator yet, 20psi with around a 2.5 ft drop from tap to keg, ambient temps are around 16c) I've got about 1m of 3/8 hooked up to about 2.5m of 5/16 and I'm not seeing any decrease in foam from when i...

Grainfather - short brew lengths
Does anyone have any experience of short brew lengths in the grainfather? I'm wanting to experiment with a recipe idea and don't fancy the idea of making large batches. What's the smallest brew length people have managed to get away with? I'll be aiming for a 8-11% beer but some of it will be achiev...
