Re: Chinook
Beer Republic will charge you £8 for the postage (up to 25kg If I recall correctly), a bit steep for just the 500g, not so bad for a larger hop order.

Re: Recipes with New Zealand Hops
I have 200g each of Motueka and Riwaka, I'm planning on a brew for each. I'll be using pale malt with a little light crystal, Magnum to bitter then hop bursting at the end. That should give me a pretty good idea what they taste like. I pinched the Magnum idea from SNPA and I've done this a few times...

Re: Anything wrong with my method.
A quick and easy way to improve things is to treat your water with a campden tablet, this will neutralise any chlorine / chloramine in your water which can cause off flavours.

And if you supply your chiller from a hosepipe make sure it's kept somewhere warm... mine froze solid last year.

Re: Sight tubes
I have one on my HLT, this is up high so not so practical for the graduated stick. I can't really see how one would be usefull on the MT because (a) I know how much water I've put in there and (b) the level would depend on how much grain was in there to start with. I use a bit of graduated stainless...

Re: AG#2 A Nice Easy Lager
I had a pint of this last night and I'm a bit disappointed. There's no head whatsoever so I think may be using flaked wheat next time will help and it isn't fizzy at all so adding more priming sugar will help I'd imagine. Maybe I was expecting something different to what it is. It does however tast...

Re: How to be a better brewer.
We are moving house hence the space to go AG (YAY!) as part of this move the fridge is going to become free (there is one of those in built ones there already). Seems silly not to make a brew fridge ay? Whats the general outline for building one? is it the standard tube heater / controller from eba...

Re: "Hoppier" Yeast than WLP 023, Burton Ale?
I've used Wyeast 1272 in my hoppy pales with some success, you get the hops but it also allows more of the malt through than US-05. It also drops out a lot quicker.

Re: corneys arrive from germany
Im up for 4. I have a mate who has a van so could collect from the Chesterfield site and store for East Coast area buyers (Linc's, Norfolk, Cambs) to collect from. I'm pretty sure I could borrow a trailer and transport some from Snail in Lincs (I believe) to Norwich. Maybe there should be a distrib...
