Re: Brew day 2
Spent 4 hours in each of the last two days cleaning and sterilising the bottles for this. Left in FV for 4 weeks,as it stuck after a week. Batch primed 75g normal sugar.Managed 35 500 ml bottles. Just got to find somewhere to keep them now. Perhaps a one bedroomed terrace isn't the best place to bre...

Re: A recommended book?
Despite having found out the recipes don't work out with the specified amount of water (Beer Engine will sort this out) I still love The Homebrew Handbook. Not too much waffle to over complicate things and a good variety of recipes. I've made my first 2 AG's from there, both turned out alright.

Christmas beer
Hi,Whacking on a Christmas beer next week (I know!) using the recipe in 'Homebrew Handbook'. It has Star Anise, cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger and nutmeg. I'm wondering if there's room for orange zest in there too? Pilsen malt 3.4kg Vienna 1.1kg Carmalt 454g Victory 454g Caramunich 226g Honey malt 226...

Re: Banana bread
Oh,I'm disappointed now. Could have sworn I once read on the label it was made by adding xxxlb of Fairtrade bananas to Bombardier.

Bizarrely (I can't stand bananas) one of my favourite beers is Wells' Banana Bread beer. Does anyone have any recipes/tips for this?
Ta in advance.

Re: Brew day 2
Ah-bit of a piss up really-house warming/wife's 30th/wedding anniversary early October. I'm getting the Christmas one on after next payday though. I've had a trial sip,out of the trial jar, tastes 'stouty' then the coffee, then the absurd bitterness of the hops, which I know will mellow. Really looking...

Fermentation stuck?
Hi all. Brewed a coffee stout last Saturday. Came out 1068 OG. I checked it yesterday, OG1030. I've not seen any bubbles for a day or two and the Krausen has vanished.I used WYeast 3588 Strong Belgian. DO I need to add another dose fo yeast to get down to where I expect it to be (Receipe said 1018) ...

Everytime I'm in the kitchen,I lift the top off my bubbler, just for a sniff. Be careful of a noseful of CO2 though,it makes me sneeze! There must be something about women and the smell of hops too....

Re: Wrong OG
I've spent a very dull commute all week putting recipes from that book into 'Beer Engine' Only 1 recipe in the entire book came out the same, the rest were all well under the OG and ABV in the book. I'm a bit disappointed,as it was the book that really 'tipped me over the edge' as it were, but at leas...
