Re: Ever forgotten to...

Ever opened the quick-disconnect to change the pipes round while the valve is open and the pump still running? Makes a mess. At least one of them, nearly every time I brew [emoji15]. I think I need counselling over it. I can also never resist yeast/hop dumping from a pressurised conical which also ...

Re: Cheap pumps

Hi Mark,

Max temp is 120: https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.p ... uctId=3197

I'm getting about 4L per min and I've not got the valves fully open.

Cheers

so, how were they??any foto from the finished beer? Thanks for asking - if meant to follow up with how the quest for a 3-4% beer that tasted like a 6% one worked out. Version 1. Re: Cheap pumps

As "donchiquon" says, you can't beat the thumping great big mains powered March May pumps (I guess they're what he refers to with "MM"?). 1960's technology I believe, well over-engineered (they didn't know better). "Virtually silent"? Perhaps I am talking about something else. Those little pumps ar...

Re: Cheap pumps

I guess it depends what you are going to use it for. After recirculating with 2 Solars then a Topsflo (all suffering eventual grain blockages) I've ended up with a mains magnetic pump from MM. It is such a different beast to the others. Virtually silent and never misses a beat. No issues with grains...

Re: Pure O2 Equipment

The racking arm....I'll make that my next test once the current brew is done. Thanks Orlando.

I guess I could also use the thermowell hole but this would mean leaving the stone in for the duration of the fermentation which would mean a load of cleaning at the end.

Buffalo induction - max brewlength it could handle?

I did a bunch of research and it looked as though Armaflex sheets were the best (and most expensive option) but so many folk were using the foil backed camping wraps that I figured they were safe bet. I spent £2.99 a year ago and haven't had an issue - no sign of any heat effects. The boil is defini...

Re: Buffalo induction - max brewlength it could handle?

I've done a 45L boil in a brewbuilder 50L pot with no problems. I've insulated the pot with a camping mat, but don't think this would be essential.

Re: Pure O2 Equipment

Is anyone oxygenating through the dump valve of their conical? At the moment I use a wand with stone to do the job (with a compressor) but am thinking about using the dump valve when I use O2 for my next brew (see pic). It looks like the bubbles of O2 from the stone might end up gathering in the fit...

Thanks Sadfield - that looks superb.

I've malt bill looks good, and I've not added tea to a beer before so will definitely add this to my brew list.

Re: Stainless FV I can attach a bottle wand to?

I use some 1/2" Sillicone tubing to connect the 1/2" barb from the racking arm to the bottling wand.

I find bottling under 2psi of pressure from the FV is much faster than from the bucket.

Re: Mash duration and efficiency

I haven't any recipes on line at the moment, however, if you use Beersmith I could add them to the cloud later in the week. Out of interest, what style of beer, target Abv are you aiming for? Your Earl Grey English pale ale sounds good. It's taken me these few brews to realise that I needs to up th...
