Re: Liberty hops - Yuck or Yummy - Poll!

I love this hop. Did a single hop brew with it, and it was totally scrumptious. Delicate hop flavour and aroma. If blending with other hops I'd keep the others to early hop additios

Re: Dissolved Oxygen Meter

There are test kits for about £20 that do about 20 tests. Might be an option in this case. I have been thinking about getting one to see how my techniques work, I was concerned about the sugars in the wort affecting the chemistry. Salifert do an o2 test kit. I bought one a while back, but never us...

Re: Double IPA success

Ah interesting. Had a bit of a mare with IPA afterwards - scales refused to work to guessed weights of everything! Ended up with a little short of a kilo extra of base malt (based on pre-boil gravity reading), so had to skip the jaggery this time. Won't know how close I was with the hops for a few w...

Does any of the other brewing software have a facilty for steeped hops?
Beersmith allows aroma steep hops but does not add any ibu for those additions

Re: Double IPA success

Hey how did this turn out afterwards? Got some jaggery that I'm planning on chucking in an IPA this weekend. That's a humungous amount of crystal in there

Re: is this what i need to measure kh?

Why do you want the hardness reading? You only need one or the other, and as you've got the kit to test alkalinity (and it'll be more accurate than what the water board will tell you) then you're sorted. For the other ions (Ca, Mg, Na, Cl, SO4) you'll need to get those off your local waterboard

Treat all your water. So if you need 30 litres, treat all 30.

Hops sprouted already - what to do?

I've got a first gold hop in a pot, which I have in the garage currently. Just noticed today that it's starting to sprout already. After a disappointing lack of any crop last year, this year I thought I'd actually plant it into the ground, and was planning on doing this in a couple of months. Howeve...
