Re: Getting ready for herms - pump + pid controller build
Cheers guys. Yep the dc plugs are secured with cable glands, as the pumps I have are a female connector so they just push on to connect.

Getting ready for herms - pump + pid controller build
So my adventure into herms is almost ready to become a reality! Spend the last couple of weeks designing and building a couple of controller boxes. 1st is a pid to control the herms lot, 2nd is a speed/voltage controller for the 2pumps I will be using (1 recirc on HLT and another for recirc of the m...

Re: Bergland Thermos pot defects
It's strange though how I cannot scrub it off. It's like a brass sort of colour. Could it just be where the polishing grease stuff has boiler out of the weld? Not sure what to do now as I've already fitted elements and ball valves to both pots!

Re: Bergland Thermos pot defects
After doing a test boil in my 2 new 70 litre Bergland pots I have noticed a discoloured ring about an inch up from the base. It coming from a small line which seems to be scored into the pot around the inside bottom edge. At first I thought it was rust but on closer inspection it is a yellow golden ...

Re: Bergland Thermos pot defects
Both are direct from Bergland in Germany. It's shocking how difficult it is to get a decent thermo pot from them!

Bergland Thermos pot defects
So I am on my second 50 litre Thermos pot which is also going back for replacement. The 1st one had one of the lid clips half falling off and the outer metal was bent where it meets the top rim. The replacement has some dodgy looking pitted areas on the inside skin near the bottom edge, along with a...

Re: Stainless Elements
What size hole punch do you use for these 2.4kw angelhomebrew elements? I've seen it says 33mm in some places and 34 in others.

Parts needed for Weldless Tap fitting
Hi guys, Im trying to source parts for a neat weldless tap fitting for my new shiny build! I have seen the 3 piece weldless tap kits for sale on various sites but was wondering if there is an alternative way of doing this by sourcing the parts myself. I am wondering if a recessed hex nut with a red ...

Re: Thermopot Bottom Drain Options
that pic of your conversion looks brill Andy! very neat indeed! I'm torn between ordering the mrLard bottom drain kit or doing a side drain similar to yours. I was wondering if I went for the centre bottom drain would it be possible to drill say 2 60mm holes (1 centre and 1 at the edge) and thread t...

Re: Thermopot Bottom Drain Options
Thanks for the info guys. James, that makes sense about the tap not clamping right up against the body of the tun. However I don't recall ever seeing pics of peoples conversions with gaps between the tap and the pot.... If anyone who has used the mrlard bottom drain kit in their thermopot could uplo...

Re: Thermopot Bottom Drain Options
cheers fil! thats very useful. Im considering purchasing the bottom drain kit that mrLard sells. However Im not sure if this will come "ready to fit" or if i would need to mess around cutting threads off the deck drain! Another think i cant figure out is hoe the ball valve attaches to the side of th...
