Re: Upgrade route for all grain brewing

Don't forget you can take a lot of bits off your existing setup to use on your new one!

Re: Novice brewer; use of wheat grain

It's a no-no I'm afraid. For a wheat beer the wheat needs to be malted first, which is a complex process. Non-malted wheat can be used in small quantities to enhance body and head retention, but even then it needs to be processed in order to gelatinise the starches and then mashed with the rest of ...

Malt Miller SNPA clone - any changes to be made?

Hi all I'm going to be making the SNPA clone from the Malt Miller site. I have a bag of lager malt knocking around already, I've got the hops and yeast from Rob, and I'll pick up some Crystal from the LHBS if he's got any in, if not I'll order online. I was surprised to see that it's Lager malt in t...

Noxav Pump - Flow Rate question

Hi All I run a Novax 20M through a plate chiller to cool my wort down for pitching, but I'm struggling to get it cool enough as quick as I'd like. Does anyone know if it is possible to control/alter the flow rate on the novax pump so I can run the wort slower than the water and chill better? I'm ope...

I'd say something to do with the 40g of dry hops in your keg.

Re: Beer shelf life problem

No idea what has happened, but on how to avoid this I would say this.

If you think this has happened due to shelf life, drink it quicker

Crisps Clear

Can anyone tell me if this is any good (and how much it costs normally?) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/clear-choice-lager-malt-25kg-crushed-homebrew-microbrewery-beer-making-/252444457278?hash=item3ac6dcb93e:g:GHoAAOSw-KFXdRul I'm planning on buying a sack of lager malt for a few upcoming brews anyway. ...

Re: Kettle insulation

A wind break will help massively. I build a wall out of breeze blocks to shield the pan both during mash and boil. I use the aluminium stuff for insulation during the mash but wouldn't consider it suitable during the boil as it's not heat resistant upto boiling temps with a naked flame You were rig...

Kettle insulation

Oh hi guys! Long time no speak, I hope you're all well So, I've got a question for you all. The few times I used my AG setup, I have struggled to get a good rolling boil in my kettle. I'm using a 100L Stockpot and one of the 8kw gas burners. I can't remember where I got my burner from, would have be...

Re: Pellicle Infection?

What dispense system are you using? if you're on corny kegs and the ferment has finished, just whack some stabilizer in there and get it kegged (sadly not an option if bottling). I did it with my last AG brew that got infected (Probably due to may lacking hygiene when dry hopping) and it was still d...
