Chloramine: I got my answer in 2015, my area isn't on the list.

Chlorine: Water filter company says four minutes boiling will do it. I think way more time than that heating to strike temperature would do the job.

I gave up Campden tablets.

It didn't work as well as he'd hoped. I have a 60W tube heater I can use in my fridge. The STC1000 bounced the temperature too much if it had control of both heating and cooling. I suppose I could have experimented putting the probe in mid-air, or liquid rather than taped to the side of the FV but ...

Although I got used to paying a lot less than that over the years, when I started AG BIAB in 2008 I bought equipment from Hop and Grape and I got ingredients for three brews as well - MO was £1.60/Kg equivalent to £40 for a sack.

You might be able to find something softer than stainless but hard enough to chisel off the bulk of the limescale. Then finish off with Citric acid and boiling water.

Maybe I'll set the time format to "B" and see how I get on with that.

I don't think I could brew from kits as I get a bit edgy if I spot my 25Kg sack getting low. I panic-buy my next six month's supply of grain and hops and feel a lot calmer.

Check the extension cables are 13 Amp as many are only 10. It's likely the lounge and utility room are on the same circuit but you can check that by flipping switches on the CU and seeing what goes off. Don't trust any labels. Same circuit should be fine for those two draws.

It's less faff that a bucket. The jerrycan is my fermenter when I do no-chill. Compared to a bucket, the jerrycan is sanitised by the wort, is easier to move out of the car port where I brew, and shortens the brew day. I don't know what the beer style limitations are, if any.
