Re: Fuller's NEIPA

Finally had this, and with totally ignoring the haze factor, I'm struggling judge this as a NEIPA. Has the low bitterness and the mouthfeel is heading in the right direction, however I found it lacking in aroma, and more marmalade in flavour, rather than juicy and aromatic. Tasty beer though and I l...

Re: Weight of a single Campden Tablet

Couple of months ago with calibration weight from work, they stay very accurate. Just weighed a new pound coin at 8.79g, royal mint specification is 8.75g. I guess all Campden tablets aren't the same.

Go on then. I'll add to the data set. Was getting a consistent 0.49g over a number of samples.

Re: Grassy aroma

Going off the limited info it could be an increase in oxygen pickup through the bottling process. What hops? Was the keg purged with CO2?

Re: Salted Caramel Oatmeal Stout

I assume this is what you mean: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/289599620 This is interesting because it contains no sugar. Just caramel colour (E150a) and salt. If you look in Ron Pattinson's "Home Brewer's Guide to Vintage Beer" a lot of breweries used to use "caramel" to adjust fo...

Re: Duvel triple hop citra

What do we all think to 40g in boil then 60g dry hop. Sounds good. A rough calculation with Citra being around 14%AA, if I was brewing it I'd do 12g at 15 minutes to give the extra 10 IBUs the Triple Hop version has over normal Duvel, 28g at flameout and then 60 dry hop. I haven't used the CML yeas...

Re: Duvel triple hop citra

Prabably enough info in these two pages. I would up the clone recipe to 9.5% abv and add some Citra late in the boil to raise the IBUs to 40, and then dryhop with citra in the FV. According to mrmalty.com wlp570/wy1388 is the Duvel Moorgat strain. http://www.duvel.com/en/the-beer/duvel-tripel-hop ht...

Re: Fuller's NEIPA

It's Fuller's, it'll be well brewed, I'm sure of that. I think everything about the recipe, says NEIPA. The only difference is the maturation time is far longer than that of your typical NEIPA and not as fresh from the FV as the New England drinker probably demands. In some cases considered out of d...

Golden Naked Oats.

In the FV hop additions, Declaration is start of fermentation, and MV is maturation vessel.

Re: Fuller's NEIPA

Well, three months on and this will be hitting the shelves in Waitrose sometime in the middle of this month, according to Fullers. Unusually long timescale for a NEIPA, so I fully expect this to be bright, but will it still have the same hop freshness? Really looking forward to this. Sent from my E5...

Re: Water Analyses and Treatment

Which is what RO users do, except instead of reducing alkalinity chemically and adjust salts, they strip and build from the ground up. It's quite a simple concept. Different approach to the same end result. The question is whether you prefer all the extra water components in your beer, that have no...

Re: Water Analyses and Treatment

My comments might be biased towards the UK waters and beer types but in essence the potable water supply in Europe and North America are broadly similar i.e it is potable and complies with drinking water standards (in the main). Where surface water come into contact with dolomite, gypsum and carbon...

Re: Water Analyses and Treatment

I'm not an RO user, but one observation of this post is that it appears to be based on the assumption all brewers are UK based and brew classic British Ales of similar shades of brown. Also, I often see the argument that our domestic water supplies cannot be trusted to be consistent, and that Utilit...
