Re: Brew Con London - A Home Brewing Conference and Expo

Changes the dynamic though and I was a tad annoyed as well although I am going. I was planning to go on the Saturday and part of Sunday and then head home. By the time it finishes on the Sunday it’s not possible to get a train back to where I live which was part of my annoyance. It is of course the ...

Re: Experience with Heather Honey

Thanks for such a detailed reply and the link. This is very useful indeed. Your wax recovery process sounds similar to mine, I’ve not actually gone as far as candles but do make hand cream etc for family members but most just gets traded in for foundation. I may try the propolis addition to see what...

Re: INTRODUCING: Seymour Citra Dark

I dry hopped in the FV for about 8/9 days and kegged this at the weekend. Took a small sample tonight. Very very nice [emoji1303] Got some friends over for homemade pizza and this on tap over the weekend. Should go down well. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171017/5b540195fc1f50e38f037c6b2b3782a...

Re: Experience with Heather Honey

Sounds like you are far more advanced with your mead making than I am. Can I ask how do you deal with the callings, do you wash with treated tap water or use a DI water? Do you monitor gravity as you wash the cappings or have a rough weight of cappings to water ratio? I find that the yield of honey ...

Re: Why honey is expensive

canot, You said this....If your honey is perpetually runny then be suspicious. I bought runny Honey fom Lidl to make my Mead, it was pepetually runny. The Mead tastes great (my first attempt), so what should I look out for in a runny Honey Mead? Geat Post on Honey Manufacturing! :D The Bees do all ...

Re: Why honey is expensive

So is the Manuka honey sold only a scam. The higher the number the more they cost in the shop. Not all of it is a scam but lots is and anyway there is good evidence for other types of honey being just as good. All honey is good in general, Manuka also tastes bloody awful imho. The OP has done an ex...

Re: Air getting into transfer tubing

Well, I'm racking to a corny. Kegging down the liquid out seems fairly common. I use cornies and fill them via a length of silicone hose from the tap that reaches to the bottom with the lid removed and that works fine. Never heard of anyone filling via the out post unless it's a pressure transfer. ...

Re: Yeast Starters

I think I know more about enzymes than Chris White, TBH. Mc, How do you know? Are you are an enzymologist? :D No, I'm not an enzymologist, WA. My background is in molecular biology, though. Genes that code for an enzyme are not down-regulated (switched off) irreversibly, under favourable conditions...

Cormeton in Seaton Delaval can refill for you, not sure if you have a cylinder already? Was twenty quid a few weeks back but going up I believe. I got my cylinders from air liquide in Salisbury but Cormeton were happy to refill them which saves me a long drive!

I haven't but I am drinking a Dent Aviator that I just got from the Ambleside beer shop. Was really surprising to see it, Dent beer is not easy to find! What was in the Kamikazi?

Re: An incredibly boring beer

A few years back for a significant birthday my son gave me a years subscription to Beers 52 a company that sends you a box of assorted craft beers each month. Being a more traditional brewer and drinker I had not tried many craft beers up to then but was quite happy to go into this with an open min...
