Re: Topping up post boil

I have done this frequently in the past with no adverse effects. I used to keep a couple of bottles of spring water at hand. Using he beersmith dilution tool to calculate how much to add the get the desired OG.

I have bit the bullet (lockdown pub savings)
Not sure when it will get here though, had to order through Brew UK.
The clamp will work well for my still conversion but that's another thread maybe.
That's a thread I would be interested in, either here or in another board...

Has anyone here tried the new Braumeister Ferment lid.

Seems to have sold out already according to Speidel.
Interesting, don't think it's for me, but interesting.

Re: Swing top seals

Sorry Charlie, had to google that

Not my scene, best thing about Canterbury and Kent is the number of excellent breweries. Gadd's, Kent, Wantsum, Goody Ales etc over 30 of them in the County. Well there was, lets hope they all survive this current mess.

Swing top seals

Does anyone have a recommendation for a source of swing top bottle seals. I have found some online but a personal recommendation is always good. The price seems to vary wildly. Looking to buy 100.

TIA

Re: Compensating for excessive evaporation

Ashbeck has a good reputation for brewing. I have used other supermarket spring water. I have used spring water for topping up for dozens of brews, never had a problem. Have done 96 brews on the Braumeister and probably as many on my old 3 vessel set up. Use spring water for dilution/top up regularl...

Re: Compensating for excessive evaporation

My water is hard, 290 CaCo3. I use CRS for treatment. Occasionally I will use Tesco ashbeck for a special beer. I keep 2 or 4 litres in stock to replace evaporation or adjust OG. Never had a problem. Only downside is I hate the plastic waste.

Re: Compensating for excessive evaporation

Why not top up with water? It is water that has boiled off.

Re: Wine kits

Thanks Tom, I'll try a more expensive kit and try it at 20 litres. How long does the wine keep in the Bag in a Box and where do you get them from?
Cheers

Wine kits

I have been all grain brewing beer for 20+ years, now looking to make wine. I am fortunate to live about 30 minutes from Dover and have made regular visits to France to stock up on wine. Spend 250 quid in Calais wine store and get a free crossing on P&O ferry. A group of four of us have been once a ...
