Re: Brewing in a drought!!
I've ordered a couple of these https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/20-litre-no-chill-cube-lower-your-water-consumption/ for a few reasons . 1) the obvious water saving not using the CF chiller on the GF 2) shortening of the brew day because the high ground water temp now means a very long run of...

Re: Spotless Water
Mine is just basic meter from ebay , think it was only about £10 . Not really necessary to have one , but they do come in handy if you are treating your own tap water to reduce alkalinity . A quick check of the TDS before starting to make sure it hasn't shifted to much since last time will save on d...

Re: Spotless Water
Yes I have used it, the dispenser at the pump tells you the TDS of 0 which has been confirmed by my TDS meter at home , as it is going to be boiled for an hour or so when you brew there will be no issues . Spotless water basically state it is OK for brewing but it is not advised to drink as is , whi...

Re: Gelatin
Why are English people, these days,so sqeamish about what they eat? 'cos they all want to eat flavourless copies of the real thing "vegan sausage" or "vegetarian cheese" oe "meat free meat". So that the little fluffy wuffies can be set free in the countryside. Everyone knows meat grows in clingfilm ...

Re: Leaf hop supplies
I recently brewed using a pack of the malt millers Citra pellets that where best before 2017 , perfectly OK in all ways . I only use pellets now , just so easy to store (when I was using leaf , my stock occupied a lot of freezer space but not now) weigh out etc .

Yes, not really surprised it doesn't work .Grainfather do seem to have a habit of releasing things with fault's .

Re: Gcast WiFi/Tilt bridge upgrade released
My G cast won't connect to my tilt , certainly nothing wrong with the tilt because it works with the tilt app .

Re: Brewbrite
Now that this thread has moved to here I will repeat how I produce remarkably bright beer. And yes although Brewbright contains irish moss (chondrus crispus) , a seaweed, to obtain the clarity that I outline you need to use all three finings. Brewbrite,Protofloc and gelatine. Please note that the g...

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
The lugs on the top plate are 35mm high with a width of 25mm, so with a approx over 50mm between the bottom of the MT & GF bottom it would be possible to use the TOP rolled plate upside down as a BOTTOM GF MT plate without any further alteration. Only problem though thinking about it would be that ...

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
The plates arrived safely today. First up I am surprised on the quality of the things, the quality IMHO is on par with BAC brewing equipment. The roll on the edge provides excellent rigidity and there is very very little flex. The diameter of the holes in the plate are the same as the original. The...

I've still got 3 of those 30 litre poly kegs that are still in good working condition , pretty impressive for something meant to be used just once .

Re: Using a mixed gas to dispense
My approach with Porter or Stout is to carb the beer up with C02 to 15psi at 10c for 24 hrs and then serve with 70/30 at 30psi , works OK for me and gives that nice smooth creamy mouthfeel and thick dense lacing head . I even serve my pales with 70/30 but force carb with C02 to 30psi for 24 hrs , p...
