Re: The Beer Bug!

It is designed and manufactured by a guy from close to where I live in Richmond, Va.. Our local homebrew shop is testing one out at the moment and if you like I could get a short review from him. It's gimmicky admittedly but people spend ridiculous money on golf clubs etc. Why not? Some people like...

Re: Sloe Gin a Couple of Questions

It's the perfect time for Damsons but too early for Sloes because you want to let them ripen as much as possible on the bush and, traditionally, they should not be picked until after the first frost. The same effect can be achieved by sticking them in a freezer for a bit. Life's too short to spend p...

Re: Cider question - boil or not ?

I would vote for no boil, no campden, no added yeast and don't drink it before next spring.

So it really should be in a FV under an air lock.

And it's supposed to be cloudy.

Pink Foot Geese

Maybe one for Lari this. The Wildfowlers next to me can barely see through the red mist these days. But when they do eventually run out of cartridges they bring it all home and I get my share. Anyway I was presented with two huge pink foots yesterday and was thinking about how to cook them. They are...

Re: Brewday condensation management

Don't use a dehumidifier you'll just waste a lot of electricity and won't solve your problem. Your brewing will cause a lot more vapour than any dehumidifier could possibly cope with. Ventilation is the key. I do private housing enforcement for a local authority and I can tell you that dehumidifiers...

Re: Is Grain Brewing too much for a beginner?

I started with kits, then did approx 6 months of extract and then AG. My advice is, forget bottling it's just a pain but you can always bottle a few to keep, swap, give away. If I was starting again I'd miss out the extract step. There is really no point. If you're moving onto extract you're going t...

Re: New Brewery, New Brew

It was a hell of a refurbishment and a hell of an expense but pretty much finished now. I've just blown the last of my cash on the garden including my brew shed which will also have to accommodate all the tools, gardening equipment and bikes and another shed for swmbo which will only ever have prett...

New Brewery, New Brew

Good afternoon chaps, After a forced break due to a house move I'm back and going to start brewing again for the first time since 2009. I've got a new shed, with power, which will be christened as The Tangerine Brewery as soon as my daughter makes the sign. I've done a couple of kits so far, just to...

none of mine leak.
If you'd asked me if they hold pressure that would be different.

Re: rotokeg

Funnily enough I got one off Freecycle as well.

I took mine into Leylan Homebrew and Les kept bringing out second hand lids out until he found one that fit.

I think that he only charged me a couple of quid.

Works fine now.

I put an s20 valve on mine to use with the HB bottle.

Anybody tried Seabrooks Wasabi crisps.

Strangely addictive, and not in a good way.

If they're on a tree they're not sloes.

Whenever I've seen them they're on a prickly bush no higher than 5' tall.
