Re: wet hop recipe?
I'm also going to be in a similar situation in a month or so. Do you need to do anything to the hops before you put them in? Is a quick shake to get rid of most of the spiders etc enough? I think people literally just throw them in straight from the bine  so that's what i'm going to do. I'm ...

wet hop recipe?
1st ever home grown hops look like they are nearly ready to harvest (First Gold). I’m planning on using them in a wet hop recipe, but having never done anything like this would appreciate some advice on the below. Obviously I don’t know the weight / amount of the hops I’ll harvest (I’m hoping I’ll g...

Re: Hop Growing 2016
Just got back from holiday and my First Gold has cones :D and I’m pretty sure they are nearly ready to pick. They sound papery when squeezed and I can see the yellow lupulin glands. I was planning on using them in a wet hop beer recipe which I was hoping to do this weekend coming. Do you think they ...

Re: Hop Growing 2016
Lots of sunny weather down in Devon and the hop plant is doing really. Lots of burrs, which will hopefully turn in to lovely cones

I love El Dorado hops so it looks like a tasty recipe. Let us know how it comes out?

Re: AG#10 Munich Helles - Lager (BIAB)
Bit of an update…Entered this beer into my first ever home brew competition this weekend just gone (Welsh National - BJCP). It scored a 44/50 and got placed 1st in its category and 2nd in best of show. Going to be brewing it again very soon as I finished the last bottle on Friday

Re: Hop Growing 2016
My dwarf Prima Donna has reached the top of the fence (6ft). I’m now trying to train it across the top of it. The base has gone a bit wild with side-arms. I’m guessing this is normal?

Re: AG#4 BIAB Speckled hen Clone

The time is quickly approaching (probably a bit late if im honest) but thought id better crack on with it. Very basic recipe. 4.3kg maris otter 660g dark crystal 430g go...

Re: WLP001 for english pale ale
THat's a fair amount of flavour hops so you would probably be fine with it imo If you were to do a more lightly english hopped pale ale then I'd definitely change the yeast I did not like WLP023 either, I used it in four or five beers in a row and they all had a sort of mineral quality I really did...

Re: Hop Growing 2016
Some questions - Should I be feeding my First Gold with any feed? (It seems to be doing okay at the moment). I’ve also read that you should remove some of the leafs near the base of the plant to stop pests? As you can see in the picture some of the older leaves have some brown speckles. Should i be ...

WLP001 for english pale ale
Brewing the below recipe this weekend. I used WLP023 Burton Ale Yeast for the last batch and didn’t really like it. I have a starter already growing with some re-harvested WLP001. But reading around I’m stuck whether I should be using something like WLP007? This beer is for a wedding, which I need t...

Re: Beer Gun or counter pressure filler
The beauty of the Pegas is once you have it permanently mounted its utility becomes an overwhelming advantage. Filling the odd bottle for a friend etc or as you are nipping out to someone for a meal, you are quite happy to take a few minutes to fill a bottle or two because it is so easy. As you can...

Re: Beer Gun or counter pressure filler
Dug out my blichmann beer gun at the weekend and I hate the damn thing, it is honestly easier just filling bottles from a tap. I'm now in the market for an alternative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I have a Blichmann copy from Angel Homebrew (half the price) and have the opposite experience. ...

Re: Brew dog recipe 173 beatnik stout
If we take the sensible option which is to divide 375 by 20 you get 18.75 per litre then times it by 23 you get 431.25 so for arguments sake 430 now that seems better to me. Yep, that sounds about right compared to the BrewDog recipe (I’ve never used Lactose though). I’m guessing the reason you wer...

Re: Pellet or Leaf - which do you use and why
I prefer whole hops in the boil and pellets for the dry hops.
Happy to use either, but pellets are easier to store as they take up less space lol.
