Re: Reduce body while in Primary?

is it cloying? What was the recipe? No I wouldn't say it was overly sweet, just very full bodied. Can't put the full recipe as it's a competition beer (maybe!!!) but it was a mix of MO, Munich and carafe 3, and hopped to hell and back! The mash/sparge didn't go to plan (but hit temps ok) and the bo...

Reduce body while in Primary?

Hi all, I brewed for the first time in ages on Saturday and after a couple of teething problems with my new kit ended up with 20l of Black IPA at 1.066 OG. Target was 23l at 1.072 so I was quite a way off the mark. I racked into the FV and pitched 1pkt US-05 and today the gravity is 1.020 so not qui...

Re: Cooling & Filtering process?

Re: First use of my new setup

Paz1 is correct, ending up with a more volume post boil will reduce your fianl OG. If your target is 25l and you end up 2l too much then the same sugars are being spread thinner hence a lower concentration. You could bulk it up with some DME at this point pre-fermentation, or just go for it and enjo...

Cooling & Filtering process?

Hi all, I'm thinking of changing my post-boil process to take into account some new toys i've bought/built for by setup. I am adding a solar pump, a hop rocket and a whirlpool Immersion Chiller so am thinking the process will be: Boiler -> pump -> hoprocket -> return to boiler through whirlpooler Th...
