Re: Simple Electric Brewery Controller help!

Ah, so it's more like: Power in --> 25A Relay with On/Off switch --> +'ve & -'ve buses --> 10A 3pos Selector switch?
What amp switches are you using in your diagram?

Still struggling to not get confused by all the diagrams i'm seeing about this! There are many many ways to skin this cat it seems!

Re: Simple Electric Brewery Controller help!

Now investigating this a little more and am I right in thinking the switch would need to go between the power in to the box and the PID? I.e. power in --> switch to split power to either Boiler Element or PID That being the case, does the switch need to be 13A? I presume so as the boiler element is ...

Re: Simple Electric Brewery Controller help!

Ah, maybe I should have said that also having a PID for the boiler would allow me to see the temp easily when post boil cooling/recirculating.
I see what you mean though as that element doesn't actually need to be controlled.

Simple Electric Brewery Controller help!

So, as part of the next phase in my upgrades I need to build a controller to run the elements in my HLT and Copper. My new setup so far: HLT with 1x 2400w element Thermopot MT Copper with 1x 3000w element The current electrics in to the garage are sufficient to power my 40l Buffalo boilers (2600W el...

Re: 3 keg fridge/freezer?

My kegerator is an old full height fridge freezer job (as this was an extra fridge that came with our house!) and holds 3 cornies comfortably. Because of the single compressor I can't easily use an STC to control the fridge temp without knackering the freezer so I just let it run at it's own pace. N...

Cheshire Brew Crew

Hi all! As some of you may already be aware for the last couple of years I have been a part of two homebrew clubs, the Chester Brew Crew and Brewdoo Homebrew Club. Both clubs were based in the Chester/Frodsham area so it made a lot of sense (for my sanity) to merge the two clubs together and so this...

Re: Who really likes there 3 Vessel system and why

Orlando, where did you buy your PID controller from? or is it a homemade one (and did you do a build thread for it?)?

Cheers

Re: Overnight Mashing

While not overnight I now often do a over-work Mash of around 10 hours. Mash in around 7:30am, go to work, and then sparge at 6pm once I'm home again! Using a Thermopot as a MashTun I generally lose 2-3 C over the mash which isn't a problem at all. (Nasties only really become an issue if the temp dr...

Re: Plum Porter advice sought.

I brewed a Plum Porter ages ago using real fruit for the flavour. It turned out a little on the sour side and was nothing at like Titanic's version but it was very drinkable indeed! If I was to re-brew it (which I probably will in 2016) i'll be going down the Plum extract route, and as somebody else...

Re: would a solar 12v pump be capable of pumping.....

I have the 24v solar pump and it is fine for recirculating wort. Not powerful enough to create a whirlpool effect though (but that may be in part down to my setup too)

Re: 'finished' fast-prototyping all grain brewing system

Don't go all grain straight away like i did, get everything else right first. i disagree! i did two kits (one good, one disgusting), then read Graham Wheeler and got stuck in to AG. no regrets at all! loved it from the very first go. Ditto here. If you are keen to learn the whole process, and don't...

Sizing Indecisions! Help!!!

I'm in the process of upgrading my kit from my current 40l Buffalos. I already have a 38.5l Thermopot Mashtun which I won't be upgrading now and have already purchased a 56.7l pot (with tap and 1x 2.4kw element) thinking that two of this size would be a decent fit with my MT... however... there wasn...
