Help from your local - result!

I have seen it said many times in posts on these forums about contacting your local for bottles etc and was a bit dubious about doing so. But I would strongly advise any first timers like me ( strictly speaking, I'm a first-time-for-a-long-time-er) to go to you local and get them to keep bottles for...

Re: Woodfords Wherry strange behavior

Gave it a gentle nudge and did get a tiny bit more fermentation, monor patches of froth on surface. Seems dead again though and hydrometer is reading 1.010. Tasted the sample and its lovely, dont seem to be anything awful in there. So im going to take a chance that its worked despite the short ferme...

Book suggestions...

Not sure where to put this, here seems as good as any. Is there a list of must have or useful beer/winemaking books any where on forum? If not what would anyone suggest getting hold of ( please cover all styles of beer/winemaking plz).

Tia

Re: Yeast with a beard...

The world is indeed a small one. Starting on kits to get back in the swing, then will work towards an AG setup, probs by way of extract.

Woodfords Wherry strange behavior

'alo This is my first brew since the early '80s and its not acting as I expected it to. Followed the instructions to a "t" when I put this in the FV on sunday night. Waited till the temp went to 25c and pitched the dry yeast on top, sealed it and then released a little bit of the side of the lid. Ev...

Re: Yeast with a beard...

Oh right lol. As Im getting the beermaking going the wife fancies making wine from fruit ( we did it a long time ago and had some canny results.) I'll have to shell out for her stuff and I have short arms but long pockets ;)

Re: Yeast with a beard...

Bennachie? That brings back lots of memories of staying in a cottage near Inverurrie lots of years ago, with the family of the bloke who got me in to homebrewing in the first place! Roved all over those hills. Pardon my saisnach-ness, I meant Scottish. :D

Yeast with a beard...

'alo Just got ny starting gear delivered today so I' m going through the stuff I already had in the loft from my last attempts at brewing in the early 80s. I found a tub of Homeware Ancillaries formula 67plus yeast compound, but as the sell by date was 1990 and it had green mould blebs in it, I thou...
