Re: Insulation for beer fridge
The only thing that springs to mind is a bit of fibre glass wool held in place by wide adhesive tape. If you go to B&Q you could probably scavenge enough for that off an opened roll. You only narrowly missed hitting a pipe there eh.

Rinse 'em out soon after drinking the beer and there will be no crud to remove.

Yep, it's gone again. Grain was on the menu this morning, now not. Hopefully he'll sort things out and return to a decent HBS.

What's the likelihood/possibility of you stocking Halcyon in the future?

Re: Hop Oils
I find them a complete waste of money. You might get a hit off them by adding directly to a pint - if you must.

Re: Demise of Hop and Grape
They have also been selling off 'hardware' through facebook - found out too late however but maybe there'll be more coming on. Don't do Facebook nor ever want to. I hope they have managed to get something out of transferring the business as I know they have been trying to sell for some time. I alwa...

Re: Strange pH readings in mash
I did a brew yesterday and saw some really strange things happening with my mash pH that I'm hoping someone can explain. I prepared a batch of brewing water and treated it with phosphoric acid to bring the pH down to 5.6. I then mashed in with around half of it and a grain bill that was 100% maris ...

Re: Demise of Hop and Grape
One thing I liked them for was that you could buy small amounts of grains from them down to 50g or so. For me that was handy for some dark malts that I don't use very often and don't want leftovers lying around for months.

Re: Grainfather filter vs hop pellets
I don't put pellets in my GF at all, only using them for dry hopping. I use only leaf in the GF and that would go for any other type of boiler too. The reason for that is I want an adequate filter bed to keep as much hot and cold break from getting through to the FV as possible.

Re: Converting my BIAB recipes to Grainfather
Hello Dave S Yes it looks as if I will have to put my hand in my pocket and get the BS. Apart from the parting with the money :-) I would expect the BS to be a fairly complex prog and need a load of effort (both in time and mental effort) to manipulate it. Was hoping to avoid that. Are you willing ...

Re: Converting my BIAB recipes to Grainfather
I would advise downloading BS 3, you can use it for 21 days free then if you like it you can buy a licence. As aamcle said BS has a built in profile for the GF, though I had to tweak it a bit to suit.
