Re: Can't wait to try these

Are you previewing the post before you hit the 'post' button?

There's a bug in this version of the forum software that has a problem when you preview the post beforehand.

As this is a useful discussion, I've moved it to the RIMS and HERMS forum to avoid auto-deletion in the 'Introductions' forum.

Re: I hate hydrometers!!

I hate to be pedantic (no I don't :) ) but the Greek character upsilon (Υ or υ) is pronounced 'i' as in Mick. In modern Greek at least; it only gets an 'oo' sound if preceded by 'o' .

Re: Water treatment for cider

I don't know if our own cider page put together by Jean-Yves is any help - https://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/cider_1.htm .

Obviously he's talking about apples that grow in France, but maybe there are British equivalents.

Re: Gone a bit wrong...

Sounds like it could be infected (though there are other sources of TCP flavour - see here: viewtopic.php?t=79678#p825354 ).

Did you make a starter first or just chuck the contents of the jar in?

Re: Help!

Do you have a plastic bottle? You can bottle it all normally and do one sample in the plastic bottle, then you can use that as an indicator of excessive carbonation and take appropriate action on the remaining bottles well before explosive conditions happen.

Re: Help!

Well, I've never know Gervin/Nottingham to stall, though 12C is pretty low and if it spent much time below 15C it will have been going very slowly if at all (though it can allegedly work down to fairly low temps I've never tried it myself). Also the FG of 1.015 is higher than I've seen with Nottingh...
