Torrefied Barley

Hi,

I've got a recipe that’s asking for Torrefied Barley which I don't seem to be able to obtain.

What would you replace it with Flaked Barley, Torrefied Wheat or something ells? It’s making up about 10% of the grain bill.

Cheers
Barry

As far as I know You can make Your own by popping barley in the same way as you do with corn when You make popcorn. I assume pearl barley will work.

Replace it with Flaked Barley . . . While not quite the same, Torriefied barley will impart a cereal taste to the beer, the flaked barley will give the same level of head retention properties.
