Is there any reason why you shouldn't use all lager malt in an ale.

no reason at all, my local micro does one 'real' lager but uses it a lot in other ales, mainly for it's very light colour

I think it's the nitrogen content that is different from pale malt

I think Harviestoun uses Lager malt in a few of their ales

So I can use crystal and the likes with it then without any problems.
Thanks.

Shouldn't be a problem. I've done a few half pale, half lager malt brews and they've all come out lovely. No reason an all lager malt version shouldn't. It will produce a very pale and crisp ale, so you'll want some crystal, amber or munich malts (maybe) in there to give it a bit more interest I'd have thought.

The Champion Beer of Britain for two years running was, and still is made with 100% Lager Malt. I was told the reasons for it's use were the pale colour of the finished beer...Brewers Gold, and that the lager malt gave a higher extraction rate.

IIRC bags of lager malt are about £1 cheaper than pale malt.
