Orfy's Hobgoblin

Post by wetdog » Fri Oct 10, 2008 5:34 pm

I was wanting to brew Orfy's Hobgoblin but I'm having difficulty finding Cara-Pils/Dextrine.
I've googled it and my LHBS has a brewing encyclopedia which says pretty much what it says on the web - gives body and aids head retention, I can't seem to get hold of any or find out if there is something similar I can use.
Does anyone know?

Hey WD,

It's a good recipe that one, done it a few times, more like the cask version than the bottled one

most good hbs should stock carapils, I've used it in a few recipes, gives extra smooth body but without adding extra colour

H&G do it http://www.hopandgrape.co.uk/catalog/de ... CAR2146345

I think I have about 500g in the cupboard, if you're passing Durham you're welcome to it....... :D

ah, thanks Garth, I thought I looked through H&G, must have missed it. Think I might make out a list of things to order, especially hops. my LHBS charged me £6.99 for 113g of goldings. I can do better than that with the postage included on the net!

H&G and Barley Bottoms prices are much better than that, 6.99 is a right rip off

are you brewing tomorow WD

I've got quite a stock of it, so if you're passing Macclesfield, you're welcome to 500g of it too. :)

Ignore me - I fail to read things resulting in posts that don't make sense.
