Hi
Can anyone give me an idea of how much crystal malt that I need to steep, in order to the raise the gravity by 10 points in 10 litres of wort?
Hope that makes sense.

You want to add 10 degrees to 10 litres. This is 100 litre degrees. The extract from crystal malt is around 270 litre degrees per kg. 100/270=0.37 therefore you need to add 370g.

Except that's assuming 100% efficiency, which you'd certainly never get from a mash. I have no idea what sort of efficiency you'd get just from steeping... I'd go for 500g as a first guesstimate and see how it ends up - if you end up too high, you can always dilute it.Eadweard wrote:You want to add 10 degrees to 10 litres. This is 100 litre degrees.
