Grain percentage.
Hi have been given some recipes for Nukie brown and they list pecentages; i.e 92.3% maris otter, 2.3%dark crystal etc etc rather than weight. How do i work out what this is in weight, i know the brew length etc will determine the weight, is there a formula to work this out??? Thanx.

Re: Grain percentage.
Do you have any brewing software such as Beer Engine? If not, you could use a free website calculator such as http://www.brewtoad.com/recipes/new
Or, let me know your batch size, and which recipe you're most interested in, and I can give you more specifics.

If you know the target OG you can use that and your efficiency to work out the grain bill but, yes, it's easier to do it with a bit of software.

Re: Grain percentage.
That's right. I've always been impressed by them, you can find a kit for almost any style of beer, at any skill level, and then click on "Additional Info" tab to download the actual recipe, whether you buy from them or not. I've made a few of these, and tasted more that friends have made. They're always good, and very true-to-style if you're looking for a baseline recipe to experiment upon. Just remember, these are US gallons, not Imperial, but it sounds like you want a batch size a bit smaller than 5 Imperial Gallons anyway, which should be ideal. Best of luck!Morten wrote:My pleasure.DustyDog wrote:Cool, thanks Morten, will have to check out the Northern Brewer recipes.
