I got tired of digging through this container to find individual specialty grains

Am I wrong to think keeping malts out of light is a good thing?

That said, I too get fed up of searching through my box of assorted bags of malts - the main base malts are kept in a separate dustbin where I store the sacks.
Fermenting: 1970s Abbott clone
Conditioning: nada
Drinking: Thai spiced saison, Duvel clone, Orval clone, Impy stout, Porter, Guinness clone, schwarzbier, Rauchbier, Harvey’s Best clone
Planning: Impy stout, Brown Ale, Galaxy Pale Ale

That's not an issue as far as I know. The main thing is an airtight container.

I wouldn't recommend storing grains in direct sunlight*, but daylight generally shouldn't have any noticeable effects. The water % of grains is too low to facilitate any noticeable biochemical changes.

*Or anything else without chlorophyll. Except my legs in the spring.

It's in a corner out of direct sunlight.
