Still NO eggs!!!
The other option is that he does not like your beer. ;)
he said he'd let me know how it was after 'another bottle' ;) So I take that as a plus!! :D

Maybe he has some sort of mathematical equation that works out the amount of Spent Malt it takes to make 6 eggs! :)

Probably less efficient than my Mash, which might work bad for the eggs :D
We ate all the eggs for breakfast this morning, really large yellow yolks for the size of the eggs.

We got a couple of chickens a while back. A real fresh egg does surprise you a bit at first, then you start looking at shop-bought eggs in a different way. When I say different, I mean in the same way I now look at that 3/4 full crate of bottled lager that's been sitting around for 2 months (it was a gift)

Yeah, it's OK, but you can't begin to compare it to a decent all-grain homebrew.

A great idea, I've been using mine on the garden but have been wondering about a long term solution. A woman I meet dog walking keeps chickens & a neighbour too so this will be an ideal solution. :D Especially if it ends up with free eggs of course

I save a kilo back now, blend the hell out of it and freeze it 10 bags
That goes back into bread and pizza dough when i make it adds a nice whole meal flavour

I save a kilo or so of my wheat beer brews for making bread rolls from for my sarnies. It benifits from a long time proving. I tend to do a big lump of dough, through to first prove, then split it, bake some n freeze the rest. Defrost it and warm to room temp, then do the second prove n it normally comes good. I'm making a malty dark beer this weekend n i'm thinking i'm gonna do some cookies with some mixed peel and maybe some mince meat as a christmas type affair, dunno how they'll come out, we'll find out.

I like the sound of the bread ideas, something I've been thinking about doing. One for the the future hopefully. Then the only problem is, as Harry Hill says, on the one hand I like eggs & on the other I like bread...

I advertised mine as 'spent grains from brewing for chicken/pig feed' and have a list of people who will pick up - regular guy always drops off an animal feed sack for the grains, picks them up and leaves me eggs occasionally.

ALso keep a handful back sometimes for bread making - lovely with crystal and munich malt - see http://www.braukaiser.com/wiki/index.php/Treberbrot for a good recipe/technique.

Hens are good for spent grain. I have had hens since I was 16 and I am 43 now. You cannot beat a lovely yellow yolk from a hen fed on nothing but grass and grain. All of you all grain people shoud consider a few. You can get a little ark to wheel about the garden, kids love them, they are happy and cluck about. Plus you can ignore all the cr@p sold at the supermarket. So for all you allgrainers I say - Get some hens! Or find someone with pigs, a guy at my work has pigs so I give him a bucket every now and again in return for sausages.

Hens hoover up masses of grain but rats are often a problem. I have rat proof feeders and automatic door closers but I still get rats 'nosing about'. So I chuck the grain out, retire to home and slide my lovely gas ram Theoben barrel out the window of my 'bog'. I sit contemplating life, then as I see furry ratty I take aim and pot him. As any shooter will know there is a truly satisfying 'thunk'. Once in a while if I have a good backstop I will use my CZ452 rimfire. Its overkill but ratty does not deserve my grain and the subsonic round is truly awesome. I view spent grain as a real bonus, its not waste or cr@p to get rid off. I get great eggs, hens are happy and I get some damm good rat shooting to boot. Subsonic
